you say this as a fucking joke but I played the trial and Darth Vader and Luke are locked for 60k credits you get like ~100 per match fucking insane
That's only to stop people in the trial from unlocking everything before release.
which lootbox do i need to buy to get them
None [editline]11th November 2017[/editline]
That's only to stop people in the trial from unlocking everything before release.
Has a Dev actually confirmed that? I thought it was a rumour.
you say this as a fucking joke but I played the trial and Darth Vader and Luke are locked for 60k credits you get like ~100 per match fucking insane
Apparently it takes 40 hours of playing to get a single locked hero, which is just absurd.
Apparently it takes 40 hours of playing to get a single locked hero, which is just absurd.
Yeah, that is crazy.
Apparently it takes 40 hours of playing to get a single locked hero, which is just absurd.
People are speculating that the prices are jacked up so trial people don't get too far ahead. I hope it doesn't stay at that.
Apparently it takes 40 hours of playing to get a single locked hero, which is just absurd.
I thought the point with the microtransactions were that all added heroes and DLC would be free? Kinda pointless if you have to do an insane amount of grind to unlock them.
I thought the point with the microtransactions were that all added heroes and DLC would be free?
not really? microtransactions and grindy unlocks are kinda systems that go hand in hand nowadays. as long as it doesn't literally cost money to unlock them, people will defend it to the death
jesus fucking christ 40 hour grinds without any account for performance? in $80 games with $300 of microtransactions? For DARTH VADER? Are you serious? This is hand in hand?

If it didn't, nobody would buy anything.
jesus fucking christ 40 hour grinds without any account for performance? in $80 games with $300 of microtransactions? For DARTH VADER? Are you serious? This is hand in hand?
I think you're misunderstanding what he means. They go together because the microtransactions are there specifically so you can avoid the grind, and the grind is there specifically so they can add microtransactions; they lengthen how long things take beyond being a reasonable time so you'll be more encouraged to give them money to get around the problem they've purposefully created. Without one the other can't exist, they're both things put in games to take advantage of you while they try to come up with some absurd reason why they're there for your 'benefit' despite that pretty much never being the case.
I'm just saying that level of gall is not standard yet
I'm just saying that level of gall is not standard yet
No, but "all heroes and DLC being free without grinding" isn't either. Look at R6: Siege for example. Maps are all free, but DLC operators all cost 25,000 of the in-game currency. That's something like 83 (and I'm estimating generously by assuming they win every game) games without challenges or the renown boost/op discount from owning the yearly season pass. Challenges I can't really calculate for because they vary in reward amounts and player ability to do them (I often get told to play as a faction I don't own, for example, because I haven't played 83 games with the sole intention of buying them and nothing else). The season pass boost kinda defeats the purpose of the argument unless you alternate buying it per year and save up during the ones you do own it on.
