I have a basically unlimited budget to spend on a new computer. I've already got a desktop that runs Crysis on most-everything high, and a laptop for mobile usage. I've been out of the loop in terms of cutting edge hardware, so I thought that I'd ask you all what I should get.
I'd like to keep my old system (it'll be reformatted once I get all my non-replaceable files moved over) for use as a server/lan station/other so I'll need a new everything. Case, mobo, GPU, CPU, RAM, the works. I don't care if it's ATI or nVidia, intel or whoever. Price is no matter, and if it comes down to it, I'll wait 3 months for the prices to halve.
Essential details:
A case to fit it all
A Mobo to fit it all
Screen(s)
Speakers
Mouse
Keyboard
Power to run it all
Liquid cooled
Vista (or Win7) for DX10
Can you guys come up with anything?
It's nice to have an 'unlimited' budget, but it's really not worth blowing a lot of money on something that will be outdated very quickly. I think you'd be better buying something mediocre, and then just updating it periodically.
If your current computer can do everything for you, why not just upgrade that?

I'd like to see this in your build.
Buy something a few steps down from the best.

No,
Get one of these its more expensive than the i7 which makes it better!

Nah, get this, it has 6 cores:

If you want the best for gaming, get an i7 975, any X58 mobo, quad 4890s/triple GTX 285s, and maybe an ioXtreme because you can.

Triple 295s! They're stronger :P
The point of this is to have a brand-spanking new computer that I can keep running solid while using my old computer for internet browsing/downloading. If I wanted to keep upgrading regularly, I'd just mess with my old computer, but it's slowing down due to different reasons.
Ok, so I'm looking at an Antec 1200 (900 on my current PC). Ideas on liquid cooling? I'd probably have someone who knows their stuff in LC put that in the case, or even have the entire shebang put together professionally.
With the X58...which brand? Which specific motherboard?
3 GTX295s - check
i7 975 - check.
What else? And the ioXtreme IS too expensive. Especially just for 80gb when I don't need to get at data THAT fast. I still need a power supply also.
And you all update before I even reply. No, seriously, price is no object. Only thing keeping me from getting an actual supercomputer is that they're designed for computing, not gaming. mac=HELL NO!!! I'd never even use the mac portion, and Macs are underpowered for the price you are spending. You might as well buy a pre-built gateway or dell.
You can't do 3 295s. There's a reason he has 6 Dumbs.

Oh, in that case:
OP GET TRI-SLI GTS 250S
YOU WON'T EVEN NEED A NEW PSU

Pshaw, that's nothing. My alienware came with 3 9600GT's. Y'know, only true gamers use SLI.

I told you I've been out of the loop. And do I even need to overclock with a damn-fine system? Though it would be cool heating my entire house with my computer, I'd rather not. Any recommendations on a liquid cooling system? Muffin's list looks solid to me, but I would like to dump the money on the liquid cooling. So in that case, I probably would overclock just because I had heat to spare.
Also, a sound card is veryveryvery very low on the priority list, as I usually only run with two speakers (currently front 3 and subwoofer). I'd rather spend the slots and money on another video card. And yes, the end goal is running Crysis everything maxed at "oh god this looks realer than real!!!" with a solid 120 FPS at max resolution through 3 monitors.
PS: Also. Monitors, Speakers, Mice, Keyboards, and Mic/Headsets anyone?
If you don't want to overclock, why do you want liquid cooling?
With a liquid cooled system, I would overclock.

Best $50 graphics solution around.
get a mac nothing beats their quality
Please GTFO, I've already said that I will NEVER EVER NO WAY IN A SNOWBALL'S CHANCE IN HELL get a Mac. If you have a CONSTRUCTIVE comment, please do post it. Otherwise, take your Mac BS elsewhere.
Sorry everybody else, I'm not even considering a Mac, as the gaming is...non-existant. That is the entire point. Besides, I don't want to spend $10,000 through apple on a comparable $2,000 PC that I can fuck around with and get exactly as I want it.
You need to lurk here more to understand just how much JohnEdwards LOVES Macs.

Dude 120GT in 4x sli with 2 3ghz Xeons man when you are burning money macs are the right choice
get a mac nothing beats their quality
except a pc :)
AJsarge, are you rich. Give some money to this poor construction worker :(
Anyways, do you really need an ULTRA TRIPLE SLI BEST COMPUTER EVER RAWR computer? Because after you burn 6k on that PC, 2 or 3 years will go by with Intel/Nvidia/Ati revealing new CPU/GPU that'll make your computer look like commodore 64.
22,534.95
That is the most expensive of every category
Don't overdo it, save extra money, Bragging rights will last about 2 months, then you have to do it again. A 2000 system would do fine, not the 5000 beast that you want
Or you can get a HardCore computer. Mineral Submersed, Man, Super Hardcore.

Their water cooling setup's are insane.
