Alright, fine by me, crippling your search engine just means a better one can take its place by not limiting their search results.
They've hardly crippled it, just made it take a few seconds less.
Holy fuck, is that a Google logo made out of Lego?
But how will Captain Sparrow dock his ship

The title's slightly incorrect. They're just removing it from the auto-complete, you can still search for it.

Oh wow, OP you bastard.
Damn it Google, stop caving to Hollywood.

yeah, like they do with porn websites. Does that stop me?
Seriously, what does this achieve? To look like they actually give a shit about piracy?

Yeah but still, another website could come along and support auto-complete for ANY website, their website is now better than google.
How dare they prevent us from finding places to dock our pirate ships.
They just removed it from auto complete which doesn't really accomplish much if anything.

Yeah it's probably a move to get the RIAA to shut up since this really doesn't do shit.
Overall pretty pointless move that'll mainly just attract negative attention because of sensationalist headlines like this bot demonstrated quite vividly.
I guess it's to please some suits, but honestly, even they have to realize it's pretty pointless. What are they gonna do, slip by thinly spread baby steps for the next 20 years?
Yeah but still, another website could come along and support auto-complete for ANY website, their website is now better than google.
Their search may be better, but as established as Google are now, It's not exactly easy for a competitor to shoe-horn themselves in.
And this is why using FIrefox and DuckDuckGo works.
Not showing up in autocomplete? I'm OK with this.
I don't get why everyone's on their ass about this, they're trying not to get in trouble because if you haven't noticed, piracy isn't exactly legal. They haven't even done that much, you need to stop getting your panties in a twist.
I dont see how people don't get this . The point is that people can't attack google for their auto correct taking people to pirate sites , With the stupid things people sue for nowadays it seems like quite a smart move , Its not like they are removing them entirely.
And this is why using FIrefox and DuckDuckGo works.
But... DuckDuckGo doesn't have suggestions at all as far as I can tell

Bullshit. Piracy is illegal yes, piratebay isn't. There's no difference between google and piratebay, if google don't support piracy then they need to get rid of ALL piracy search results.
Double standards much.

No double standards, they are doing as little as possible to stay safe. If they were actually against piracy they would remove all results indeed. But they are removing selected sites so they are safe in the eyes of law. Google doesn't really care for piracy, but the law does and it bugs google.

Pirate Bay isn't just about piracy though, I've grabbed plenty of legit torrents there for patches for F2P games and mods.

No but the point of it is piracy.
This achieves absolutely nothing. Most regular users have bookmarked it and there's always an ENTER BUTTON to press when you've typed it in.
It also restricts porn searches. That doesn't stop anyone, does it?

this too, it's useful for when Chrome is being a bitch and not downloading stuff.
Bullshit. Piracy is illegal yes, piratebay isn't. .
The concept of piratebay isn't illegal sure, but the suits don't like piratebay because whoever manages piratebay does fuck all to try and remove pirated content from their website. That is illegal.
As a actual seach-engine, I find Duckduckgo to be vastly superior.
In my experience DuckDuckGo always has inferior results.

I'm not allowed to post I guess?

"Hey, here are some sponsored links and shit, bro. We know you're searching for music. Yeah, the illegal links are on page 2. You'll find em eventually anyway, we can't filter *everything*..."

HAHA LOOK AT THESE DUMB FUCKS THAT SENT US A DMCA WE DON'T LISTEN TO THESE KINDS OF PEOPLE
do you see why Google is allowed to continue legitimate business operations?

TPB isn't the only place for torrents and people that keep advocating for its continued existence because of the few legal torrents it does host are terrible. A better solution would be a torrent website actually dedicated to legal content.

That is your argument? Really? Google is a legitimate business because they don't say mean words. If the founders of piratebay are going to be prosecuted for linking to copyrighted material then the same has to go for google and all other search engines.

Google is a legitimate business because it abides by the law. It responds to DMCAs. It responds to court orders. It sues. It can be sued. It indexes entire swathes of the internet, and yes, it does police its own search results. It makes an effort. That effort is found to be enough by the legal systems of its operating countries.
The Pirate Bay flaunts its position of illegality. This isn't a matter of "mean words" as you say to trivialize it. They deride the law. They piss on intellectual property rights. They scream that the world can't keep up with the internet, and when laws are applied they make every effort to resist. The Pirate Bay does not work with the law. They make no effort to remove illegal torrents, in fact they aggregate and promote them. That is why they are not a legitimate business.

Still works fine in Chrome and it's not like Google doesn't autocomplete anything you haven't searched for before.

This is Google's way of removing the least helpful thing from their search engine while still looking like they actually give a shit.
