After purchasing GTA4 on Steam, I thought it would be easy to simply play the game. Upon my first play, it told me I needed to download the first Vista Service Pack 1, no big deal. However, when I auto-update, restart, and log on, I am greeted with the message 'Windows did not install blah blah blah' Error code 800700D.
I have tried Google, but the results make my brain turn into mashed potaters.
How can I remedy this annoying problem? A step by step solution is preferable.

What would you do with specs?
The link timesheep provided did not work either.
I dont think specs have anything to do with it.
Windows can fail to install because the ram is not fully compatible with the motherboard.
The chance of that is very remote, but it's still plausible.
Did you install SP1 via Windows Update or did you download it manually?
Aren't we up to Sp2? (I think)
Why not get that instead?

Because SP2 requires SP1.

Both Manual and Auto-update do not work.
The errors may be different, but im not sure.
