So after moving, we had to get a wireless router. For a little while, it was fine, and I had no trouble. I'm the only one in the family using the wireless, and my mom and brother are connected to the router using Ethernet cables.
Now, all of a sudden, my download and upload speeds have plummeted, and my ping has shot skyrocketed from an average 67-72, to the 300's (I found this out using speedtest.net)
I'm running Windows 7 32-bit
Using a D-Link DIR-655 Xtreme N Gigabit Wireless Router
And the wireless card in my computer is a D-Link DWA-552 XtremeN Desktop adapter.
Also my ISP is Comcast, and our router is secure and passworded, and also we have three people connected in the house. And, no one is downloading anything big and hogging the bandwidth, because I did a speedtest on one of the wired computers, and it was the normal 16+Mb/s speed for them, with the normal 67-72 ping, so it's just me, probably because I'm using wireless.
Also, it's going back and forth between my normal low ping, and the really high ping, and the download speed is changing a lot, but it's staying around low 1-digits, when it's normally around 13+Mb/s
How far away are you from the router and how many walls/solid objects are in the line-of-site to the router.
Wireless is generally slower, since it's not a direct line. That's my experience with it.
I've had this router for a few months and the connection has been perfect, usually 95-100% connection from 3 different sources of finding out the signal strength.
