Apple itself might not be at CES, but the prospective upgrade of its iPad to version two has accessory manufacturers (or at least manufacturers' imaginations) working overtime. We've just come across our second iPad 2 mockup, this one a lot more comprehensive than the first, which seems to mesh well with some earlier imagery we've seen of the supposed next-gen Apple tablet. Not only that, its rear label reveals an A1337 product code -- one that's also shared by the current iPad WiFi + 3G -- and lists 128GB of onboard storage, two times the current tablet's maximum. We don't know what material it's made out of, but it felt felt the same as the current iPad's aluminum shell. All that said, this is still just a mockup from a no-name accessory maker and we're just as willing to believe it was put together on the basis of some decent rumor research as we are to think that it really is the iPad 2. No harm in browsing some pictures of this 9.4mm-thick device, though eh?
A lot of iPad 2 news and speculation lately, got to love CES.
To tease us.
I'm pretty positive the new iPad will look something like that, but I really have no idea how all of these case manufactures are popping up with iPad 2 cases. Apple's own leaks maybe? Who knows.
128GB storage should be a must. I really hope they get rid of the 16GB and make the 32GB the lowest (obviously with a lowered price).
Making the iPad 16gb and 32gb in the 1st generation was dumb and genius. Dumb because of such little storage space but still genius because people bought it anyways.
If the mockup is anything like the actual iPad 2 will be like and there is 32, 64 and 128gb configurations for the price the current gen model is going at (sort of like the New iPod Touch going at the old one's price despite the significantly improved guts), this one'll be worth checking out. I liked the iPad 1G (after a bit of first-hand experience at a local apple store), but with the hardware and price i just couldn't justify purchasing it.
@M24: Perhaps Apple is loaning placeholders/standins/mockups to case makers?
Too bad those are photoshopped, even though they dony look like it? RIGHT?
They're not photoshopped.
That bezel's reaaally sharp.
Apple have never put what "number" product they are on the back.
iPhone 3G says iPhone
iPhone 3GS says iPhone
iPhone 4 says iPhone
iPad says iPad
iPad 2 will say iPad
It's clearly a crappy mockup

Yes, and I said its a crappy mockup. What's your point?
Apple wouldn't make their products that retarded anyway. The speaker grill is horrible.
That is too ugly to be the next ipad...
Why would they put iPad 2 on it? Fake

Oh, my bad it is fake
