yeah, that's how it works, they are only capable of working on one thing at a time and the whole team is required to work on a spectator feature
I'm all for this.
I know a bunch of people don't understand how people like watching this sort of thing, but it's the same thing as watching any other game.
Plus I suck at it and barely have any good cards
This is great, one of the best ways of getting better on games like dota 2 or csgo were to watch pros play.

That brings up a question I have. How is such a simple game so complicated to make/patch/work on for a company that brings in $5 Billion in revenue every year?

It's a small team that works on Hearthstone.
Think of Blizzard as a publisher and the Hearthstone team as a developer.
