• Civ 5 Temperatures High

While playing Civ 5 I started to notice it loading slower and taking a lot longer when I press next turn. I check speccy to see my temp and my cpu is up to 67ish during the next turn phase. It then goes back down to 58-62 which is still really hot. Also my gpu and motherboard where over 50 as well. Anyone have the same problem or know why this is happening. Also these are my spec's. CPU: It's a bit hot, you should check if the thermal paste is not dried out, and if so, replace it. Also check for dust in the heat sink. Under normal circumstances a CPU should not exceed 60C at full load. I always recommend a cooler other than stock, like the Hyper 212 EVO if it fits in your case. A GPU can easily hit 80C at full load. You should check things out when it goes over 90C. Motherboard at 50C to 60C is nothing to worry about. Make sure the case has proper airflow. You want at least 1 fan pumping air in, and 1 fan out. If you have a GFX card that pumps air out using a second PCI slot, you want 2 fans pumping air inside. Also make sure that all fans and heat sinks (especially the CPU) are free of dust. Also measure your temps using hwmonitor, Speccy Isn't always correct.
Thanks so much for the help I'm going to get a new heat sink. Is there a difference between the Hyper 212 EVO and Hyper 212 Plus other than the price? Fan quality and better socket compatibility. I'd go for the EVO.
Thanks I will order it today.
Just so you know, Civ 5 will take longer and longer time for each turn, it's just how the game turned out, you can go read about it.. It's very annoying and has nothing or very little to do with your CPU getting hotter. It made me quit playing it, couldn't stand the "next turn" times. So don't get disappointed or think something is wrong with your build, because the loading times will be the same. Although, if you had the stock cooler on the 2500k, the 212 is a good upgrade.
Just got and installed the cooler today. When I play Civ 5 I don't go over 48c which is about -15ish degrees which is awesome.
