After getting the Sapphire 5850 HD for Christmas along with another 2 gigs of ram and windows 7 I put in all the hardware and put a fresh install of windows 7. Now I am getting solid light brown screens or striped light blue screens and then my computer will freeze and automatically shut down. I did notice that the gpu was running pretty hot while my fan would only be running at 25% as apposed to the 50% at idle so I manually overlocked the fan to 66% via the Catalyst Control Center but I am still crashing. I am running the 9.12 drivers so I should be up to date. Anyone got an idea? Edit: This is the card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102857&Tpk=5850

The drivers might be corrupt, try reinstalling them. Or the card might be broken.

What temperatures are you getting. Also reading the comment's on newegg on that PSU tell's me that more people are having stability problems.
