Why do they need a publisher? They don't need advertising, they don't need physical distribution for consoles, my only guess is they need money

It was long before dayz in developement and it's not called stealing, I am sick of hearing that shit.

So I guess DayZ invented hats, backpacks, forests, guns and zombies.

Another zombie survival game ? STOLEN IDEA.
I don't get you people.
I think a great addition to come with the new release would be to have an option for server owners to enable players o choose who theu want to spawn with. It'd make playing with friends immensely easier

Oh for fucks sake. Just because a guy wears a cap and jeans doesn't mean that they ripped off Day Z. They have even been working on the game since before DayZ was released apparently but what do I know. I guess all characters wearing jeans in games ripped off levi's and should pay royalties for wearing jeans then?
Hell there can be a super awesome zombie survival game that as been in development for years and they have yet to announce it and when they do people will just blurt out RIP OFF as loudly as they can.
Besides, the models are from the PMC dlc and weren't made exclusively for DayZ.
That's stupid.
I think it's because Rocket mentioned that Arma 2 at some point will take too much work to make the game how he wants and needs to build an engine to support his future plans.
I'm kind of glad I didn't buy Arma II yet. I think I got Arma II for free during this online deal with Green Man Gaming (non-steam), but I'm not sure if Day Z will work with it if I get the expansion through steam.

rrunyan how do you post without punching yourself in the face
If it goes for like 10 bucks in Christmas, it'll be one of those games I'd buy instantly
Kind of like Minecraft.

it does
Fuck yeah, paying for a mod that's still essentially in pre-alpha and will most likely still be at the end of the year.
Half a year to develop standalone when the patches/exploit-reaction ontop of an already existing game with assets and all that already take them weeks.
I am a bit sceptic.

I hope that pans out because I hate the ArmA engine.
It's capable of some impressive vistas with large amounts of stuff in those vistas but the movement and shooting have always put me off.
Movement and shooting are one of the best things that the engine brings to DayZ, it'll probably using a licensed version of the ArmA 3 engine anyhow, meaning all them juicy new features will be coming to DayZ as well.

In one of the recent patches retail and steam versions of the game are now compatible, sadly i sold my copy of Reinforcements right before the patch was released
I hope it does, so Arma 2 can finally get cheaper and all those morons who bought Arma 2 OA only to play this mod cry about it.
fucking finally, now maybe we can go back to ArmA 2's server browser not being raped in the ass by this stupid mod

my guess would be that he'd use A3 engine (maybe even a2, who knows)
dayz require stuff that the A2 engine doesn't have/support, and having BIS add everything he needs would take a long time. so having his own branch of the engine is probably a very good idea.
An unreliable, increasingly unbalanced alpha game to be released in a few years or less. Yeah no.

Holy shit an alpha is buggy? Call the fucking cops.

Do you get it?
Good ridence. No more ARMA 2 server list spammed with DayZ

You can only go so far with protecting something because it is an Alpha.
