Hey all, This is my first time building a computer and I could use some advice. It will be mainly used for gaming, and not much else. I'm looking to run Diablo 3 on high-max settings(main goal). Other games would include Phantasy Star Online 2, League of Legends, Half Life series, and other Steam games. Running high settings on the other games is not as important. This is what I've come up with based on other guides/forums. CPU: Intel Core i3-2120 3.3GHz Dual-Core Processor ($127.49 @ SuperBiiz) Motherboard: ASRock H61M/U3S3 Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($74.99 @ Newegg) Memory: G.Skill Sniper 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 Memory ($29.99 @ Newegg) Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon HD 6850 1GB Video Card ($129.99 @ Newegg) Case: Rosewill CHALLENGER ATX Mid Tower Case ($49.99 @ Newegg) Power Supply: Antec 520W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($57.98 @ Newegg) Total: $470.43 Might be getting a 1 TB HDD for ~$50. KB/mouse/monitor/OS/DVD drive not a factor in the budget. Total: $520.43 It has been suggested to me that I pick up an AMD Phenom X4 960T and over clock that. How easy would it be do OC that CPU? Would I need any other changes (aside from an AMD compatible motherboard)? Thank you and any help is appreciated.
You're gonna need a 500w+ Power supply for the GPU you're getting. I'd recommend around 560 - 600+ .
This seem alright? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341017
no http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371030&Tpk=neo%20eco%20520w $5 more than the one in the OP, good bit better
Okay thanks. Any other suggestions? Looking at the motherboard in particular.
I'll just leave this here i3 2100*
wrong cpu, silly i3 2100*
2120 has a higher clockspeed
If you're getting a z68 motherboard then the i3 is obviously temporary, you'd be better of saving those few dollars to get the 2500k as fast as possible. If you don't even plan on switching it out soon, then why even bother with a p67/z68 mobo then, you could just as well save further 50 dollars.
So the MoBo I have is fine? H61M? No plans to OC in the future.
