Hey there, today I ordered cod from my dads laptop, I got it as a gift and sent it to my email, then I came back to my friends where my laptop is, and I went to my email and installed the game. I got 5% in, and I go to check who's online, when I do, I realize that these are not my friends, and as I look, it turns out my friend signed in while I was gone, so the game installed on his profile.
I've been contacting Steam Support ALL day, and no reply. I wanted to know if they can transfer the game to my main account.
Also, he doesn't play CoD on the PC, but the Xbox. I'm sure you'll think that I should just play the game from his account, yet he's on it to play CS 1.6 quite a bit.
I was just wondering if anyone has had a problem like this were Steam (Valve, not sure which to refer to) saw them through and could transfer the game.
Thank you for whatever help you can provide.
Pretty sure you can't switch the account games so that really sucks.
Dang, It was a stupid mistake on my part. My friend just ninja'd my stuff :P. I guess all I can do is ask them, provide as much info is a can, and hope for the best.
PS. If it helps at all, I haven't started the game.
You could try contacting them with your details, your friends details, an explanation of what happened, and hope for the best.
Make your friend buy you the game for your profile.

Yes, I've sent 2 messages before starting this thread. I'm still waiting for a response.
So wait, you bought CoD on steam yet you had to manually activate it on steam? What.
Steam are not complete assholes, just tell them exactly what happened and they'll probably find a way to transfer the game to your account.

I appreciate the support and reassuring!
You'll probably have to show proof of you owning the game.
And give credit cards.
That won't be a problem at all, I'm willing to do whatever it requires. Other than buy a new game.
If you give them proof you bought it from that specific IP with a specific credit card they'll be able to transfer it.

They just sent me a message saying that can't transfer games.
I fucking hate steam support, Unless its a Hi-Jack they are fucking useless...

My account got stolen, and all the support team needed was a picture of my Portal registration number, with my backup account username written next to it.
I just want 1 game transferred. Meh.
They can't do it, they never have and never will.
If all else fails, make a new Steam account for your friend and buy CS 1.6 for him. Hopefully he'll understand. It's only $10, and it's bound to be on sale for less sometime during the holidays.

Luckily, I talked to my friend, and since hes building a pc soon he's going to use this account with the game on it, and buy me CoD for my main. :D
I would make him buy me it either way.I wouldn't let $60 go to waste.Specially since Steam wouldn't do shit to help.
smells
phishy
Why do people use multiple accounts? I hear people saying how they have 5 different accounts... What's the point?
Bad reading? I was commenting on the fact that people have multiple accounts. I know what OP said... I didn't misread I just didn't comment on his issue.
