• I got PhysX working on an ATI HD 4870.

First off, I had my 9800gt in. With that in I installed physx. Then I removed the nVidia drivers but kept PhysX installed. Then I put in my HD 4870. I then installed the ATI CCC and Drivers. Finally, I installed the physX sdk, and low and behold, all of the PhysX samples from the SDK work on my ATI card! Note: You need a nVidia card to install PhysX with first, then you can put in your ATI card and use PhysX on it. I will try with PhysX supported games soon.
It is only the software PhysX, not hardware.
It is only the software PhysX, not hardware.
But some of the samples say they are using hardware acceleration... If not then w/e, PhysX is a gimmick anyways.
If not then w/e, PhysX is a gimmick anyways.
Why go through the trouble then?
PhysX is a gimmick anyways.
Yes but it's an awesome gimmick.
This won't work. As Master117 said, it's just the software
Those little PhysX samples? I had some similar samples from a game installation, they work fine on anything, even on my integrated Intel card.
Go play UT3 PhysX mod and tell me if that worked :rolleye:
You can use GeForce acceleration if you use the 185 or below line of drivers and have your ATI do all the graphics.
The only hardware PhysX was when Aegia made their little PPU cards. Now it is all software, which is why you can mess with the PhysX drivers, and get them to work perfectly on ATi cards now.
So your basically saying editing a driver allows Ati cards to process Physx? Or just say wow you have physics hardware, but it doesn't seem to be working I'll just use software kthxbai.
If this is what your talking about: http://www.ngohq.com/news/14219-physx-gpu-acceleration-on-radeon-hd-3850-a.html

ehehe, cloth in mirrors edge. Might as well just go by it, stop, and stare at it for a few hours. Well at least it'll make the gameplay longer :D

I want a free-roam game like that, and its in a city.
