Just post your favorite antivirus and why. I use avast because it's free.
avast
Avast or Kaspersky
I like MSE
Tried Avast for a while but ditched it when it wouldn't shut the fuck up, or trying to sell me premium services

Common Sense™ 2014 Edition along with GNU/Linux. Seriously.

Use a modern browser that isn't IE with Adblock Plus and don't click on random links, and I can guarantee you that you won't get viruses.
It's true.
But still, always nice to have a safety net.
I liked Microsoft Security Essentials until I ran into some bug that forced my computer to shut down when it starting scanning.
I used Malwarebytes, but I forgot I had it since my version doesn't do live protection, so I'm currently using Avast.
if anyone says mse i will punch you
mse is bad, there is no heuristic protection at all

I still have MSE and it works ok.
FOR NOW
-snip-
Avira
I use AVG, seems to do the job (I hope)
Avast as it's free and actually seems to have a high detection rate.
When getting rid of nasty shit I use Malwarebytes.
Tiranium
I've been using Avast for quite a while, haven't had any problems yet.
Norton
Haven't had any issues with kaspersky yet. It does its job well; can't complain(yet).
Avast!
NavaShield
Been using MSE for quite a while now, no issues so far, though it's hard to know if you got a sneaky virus. I heard a lot of good about it.
a mac
Norton 360, because it does everything I want it to.
I use norton 360 (i have no choice)
the false detection rate is so high its actually comical
I would otherwise use MSE alongside with malwarebytes, they should make up for each other's weaknesses
Sophos
I currently use MSE, but I may switch to Avast soon because I did a small scan of my appdata folder and there were shitloads of things in there that it never caught when it arrived on my system. I mean, it got it while scanning, but it never detected it automatically.
However, perhaps this was because they were inert exes, they never ran themselves or did anything, they just sat in my appdata's temp folder doing nothing, so there was nothing to really detect v:v:v
tiny firewall
I use AVG despite everything I've ever heard about it and I've never had a virus since installing it. I also installed Norton a while back and it doesn't really do anything but I can't get around to uninstalling it.
Also I use common sense and don't just download everything I see.
Linux with something for scanning my windows partion.
