I'm turning 21 next sunday (the 21st). I actually waited til now to drink (I've had some drinks in the past but not more than a few and I never tried to get drunk). I'm still not interested in drinking heavily, but I can now try a lot of different kinds of drinks that are apparently a minefield of piss and gasoline. Tell me what your favorite Beer, cocktails, etc. are and what I should avoid.
My thai girlfriend is taking me to the asian grocery store to buy different thai beers to try.
Unleash the kraken
Get some Vodka, tastes just like orange juice you'll be fine.
Just get one of everything.
Drinking is for losers. Winners don't drink! You don't want to be a loser do you?
Stay too cool for school kids
Just remember to use protection
A rum, Captian morgan is good, Sailor Jerry is probably the best + Diet Ginger ale. It will taste like a vanilla coke
Popov
Thunderbird
Milwaukee's Best
absinthe
make it a journey you'll never remember
If you're feeling rich, scotch is worth a try; once you get past the burning sensation, there's usually a fair amount of nuance to the taste of each sort. Blended scotch is pretty rough to drink as a general rule, while single malt goes down easier and tastes better.
Beer is an acquired taste. No one beer is like the others. But you might not like it at first, keep at it though. Took me a year or more to learn to drink beer without some dissatisfaction. (I started at 14 so that might've been the main issue. But seriously, beer is such a cheap yet wonderful drink. So many variants. Just pick one up and start!)
Jägermeister shots are pretty cool. Get Jägerbombs if you wanna get hyped as fuck

Blue angel best drink ever.
I recommend girly drinks because of how tasty they are.
Also try mead. Mead is also good.
First time I drank was during my 19's. Got drunk the first time (horrible), and didn't drink 5 years later.
Only drink if you can control yourself, if not, don't start.
Jack Daniels Honey
Don't drink mixy mixy, if you don't want to vomit after a while. So focus on like 1 or 2 brands.

US Absinthe doesn't contain enough wormwood to do anything.
I've got a soft spot for fireball cinnamon whiskey.

eternal first drinks

If you are going to be going on a drinking sampler binge, avoid drinks with a high quantity of sugar, that's what gives you hangovers
Mix yourself a nice White Russian.

I don't understand this. Why keep drinking something if it tastes bad? Why not just drink things that are actually good from the get-go??
And even when you "acquire a taste" for something, it doesn't start to taste better, you just become desensitized to how bad it is. This doesn't only apply to alcoholic beverages, or even the consumption of food/drink for that matter.
I try every new alcoholic drink passed to me but they all taste like hell. The only ones that I liked were extremely sugared down beverages with low alcohol content like Seagrams winecoolers and Mike's Hard Lemonade. (OP try these, they're great.) I understand that drinking is also a social thing, but still. I just don't really understand the whole attraction to "acquired tastes" as a means of recreation. It just doesn't seem as satisfying as drinkers make it out to be. Just get me a burger and a soda.
I'll get boxed to hell for this, and I'm sorry. It's just my two cents, with my recommendation to the OP in there shoved in.
If you're gonna party with a lot of people, I suggest you get pretty darn drunk. I mean, who hasn't drank (and puked) yet at 20 or younger, unless you're a Muslim?
Pretty uncommon behavior for Finland anyways. I'm not saying it's a good thing to start drinking at 13 years of age, but that's how it works for some kids, even those that turn out relatively fine. Then add one or two more years, and the rest of the kids will follow with the drinking in junior high at around 15, then more and more people will get interested..
So yeah it's about time you get pretty darn shit-faced if you ask me, coming from Finland, but don't go absolutely over-board, cuz maybe you'll die or get shot, I don't know.
