Ok so my new Dell M1730 (yes i know it's a dell) had to have it's battery replaced because the old one didn't charge. I put the new one in and charged it for 24hours like you are supposed to then i let it run flat by leaving my computer on. Now when i start it up it starts to run the Bios and then stops half way wit the message "Time-of-Day Clock stopped". I called up the Tech support and they said stuff like plug it in and let it charge, so i did and after a 12 hour charge... nothing. I called again and they said hold down FN F1 to get into the bios menu, i had to tell him again and again that it doesn't even load into the bios, he still didn't understand. The last thing he told me was that i should send it back to the shop. he asked when i bought it and i told him i bought it on an Ebay shop, He hung up. The Tosser. The next day i called up again and another guy said that i should bring it in and before he asked when i bought it i asked him what he thinks is the problem. He said the CMOS battery was probably flat and couldn't charge (I had thought this all along but didn't want to open it if there was another solution). I said thanks and then hung up. Now i have opened my PC and am waiting for a CR2032 battery and am wondering, is there anything else i could have done? I have just replaced the CMOS Battery and nothing has changed. Ok i have fixed my problem. Had to take out all the batteries and take out the power cord, discharge the Laptop then put it all back in... Fucking dell.
