so many f2p today. but really, you must buy premium to get better stuff.
It's still a risky business plan. It's like a Russian roulette, where you have 50% of a chance to survive. Good luck with TF2, Spiral Knights, A.V.A, Global Agenda and other F2P titles.
Except with Team Fortress 2 they don't even have to do anything to keep it up. It's a game where they don't run anything and if they don't make any money (And they make a lot of money) there isn't a loss since they make a ton of money off steam already.
The F2P scheme works best with MMOs though

Third party's make hats and they do not have to perform server maintenance or whatever as it's mostly dedicated. Valve making TF2 free to play really had no risk in it is what I'm saying.
