So I recently bought some shit from Hong Kong, you know, the DealExtreme site. Well one of the items I bought was a "USB 10/100 RJ45 Ethernet Network Adapter Dongle" (http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.2797) which basically allows me to have internet/LAN through my USB port. Yes it's crappy but it's my only option since lightning struck my PC and fucked my onboard network over, and I have no free PCI/PCI-ex ports. When I plugged it in, Windows Update said it couldn't find any drivers for this "USB network controller" or something, basically it wasn't being recognized. Now, I searched through the internet and DX comments, and finally found a driver from this weird sounding company, Davicom. (http://www.davicom.com.tw/page1.aspx?no=209814) I downloaded their 9601 drivers, but it was just a bunch of weird files;

I have no clue what to do from here, I have no .exe files or anything runable, so I guess I'll have to recompile them myself. Now how do I do that? Please help me, it won't work without the drivers. :/
I'm running Windows 7 by the way.
any INI files? Right click, install
Or use the windows driver finder, and select that dir
Oh can't believe I missed that.. Anyway I just tried and it says "The INF file you selected does not support this method of installation" :(
Where is the windows driver finder? :)
control panel > add hardware

Those drivers are for XP though, while XP programs can run in 7, XP drivers are pretty hit and miss.
"Windows was unable to install your USB Network Controller.
Windows could not find driver software for your device.
If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit its website and check the support section for driver software".
AFAIK, there's no W7 driver... Am I fucked? :|

If you there isn't a driver for windows 7 just google it cause netgear doesn't have 64 bit drivers but marvel drivers work for them in 64 bit. So there might be a loophole with yours.

I'm unsure what to google, and I don't think it's a nGear adapter

Ok seriously are you kidding me. There was this funny little CD (compact disc or whatever) hidden inside the packaging... Gonna try that now.

So none of the drivers on the CD work. I'm guessing it's because I have x64? Any workaround?

I'm pretty sure this device is called KY-RS9600 if that helps. I need 64 bit drivers.

Unless you can find new drivers, i don't think so.
I'm having the same problem with an old Logitech QuickCam. My dad bought it for me when i got interwebs, there's emotional value on it. :3:
are you saying DX has viruses? i doubt it
I had to do this with my the wifi card in my netbook, if you go to device manager, then right click the device, reinstall driver, when it asks you to search the computer or select from a list pick select from list, then go to the list view, click the "Have Disk" button and browse for the driver.

Nope. Just a back door to allow viruses....

nice res
Plug it in, wait for the New Hardware thing to come up, select the folder where the driver is, it will search for the .SYS file. Done.
Rate me late...

Native res for 17" monitors I'm pretty sure. Assuming the image isn't scaled.

I've already tried this, it just says: "Windows could not find driver software for your device" basically

native for 17" is usually 1280x1024
1024x might be the usual for 15 or something
Derailed much?
