I still don't really believe that Ricochet 2 is a codename for Half Life 3.
I also didn't believe when an interviewer used it as a codename to get some reasons why the next Half Life title is taking so long.

If it's true, I wouldn't understand why they would make a sequel. Ricochet was a flop and wasn't exactly a groundbreaking concept.

Imagine a Ricochet 2 with a full singleplayer campaign story that's a bit like Portal and in ending sets up HL3.
There's absolutely no way HL3 can live up to my expectations.

The reason why it's big news, is because Valve always avoided questions about a complete new engine or something related (Next Half Life title)
there have been almost only rumours and no true evidence. But now, having the CEO saying it we can finally sleep again.

Portal's tie-in wasn't forced at all, the only tie-in is mentions how Aperture science is a rival of Black Mesa, there's nothing else in any Portal games that reference the Half-Life universe.

Yeah I agree, I was more commenting on simkas not mentioning the Borealis, most-likely a very big part of the HL3 plot (or so it has been presented thus far).
