• Computer shut itself off, refuses to start up.

I fear the worst, but if you can think of any solutions, please tell me. Whilst browsing the interwebs, my computer suddenly shut off. It refused to start up again. I checked the switch on the back of the power supply, and it was in the "on" position. Messing with it didn't help, since the little bulb on the mobo that indicates whether its getting power or not is unlit. For now, I'm using a separate computer. What do I do? :saddowns:
Sounds like a short. But I'm no expert.
That's what I was afraid of, but how would I check? Nevermind, I found a guide for it.
I hope you made sure it was plugged in.
I checked and double checked. I switched outlets. Cable isn't the issue.
Any smell coming from the PSU? Can you check another device on the same outlset? If you PSU blew it has a chance of also killing other components if it is a crappy brand.
I checked for a smell, didn't smell anything though. Hopefully that isn't the case, I'm not sure what brand the power supply is, I'll check later today. I've been assured that the power supply was hardy and reliable, though. How can I check to see if the power supply itself "blew"?
Same thing happened to my Power Supply. Playing TF2 and then woom. Off. Started it back up, nothing. No smell, no indication it was the PSU at all. Get a friend's PSU tester, says it broken. So, it's most likely the PSU.
Cranked open the power supply. I noticed that the fan was stuck, which I assume caused the PSU to overheat and fail. Gotta order a replacement. :saddowns:
Lucky you, last time that happened I thought the same thing. Power supply wasn't the issue. My harddrive was done for. :(
