In fairness a lot of the bad reviews seem to be talking about it being overpriced, which it kinda is. I had fun with the beta but I can't possibly see myself spending more than $30 tops on it.
That's what you get for cutting half the content and selling it as dlc.
Even putting price, dlc, whatever aside, I just didn't find the game fun at all.
This is the first time that I'd played a beta for a hefty amount of time but had trouble figuring out if I wanted to buy the full game or not. I found it discounted and had a coupon so actually got it for £23.
If I had to pay full price I wouldn't have picked it up. I might have had a blast in the beta, but I'm not sure if the game will last long enough to warrant a full priced release. I haven't played it yet, but I know at the very least I'll get a week or two of intense playing out of it.

The bad reviews are /v/ dogpiling the game because it's not L4D with scifi skins.
I would rather blame the publisher more than the dev.
Publisher probably wanted DLCs out the ass, and I would have been totally okay if they shoved cosmetics down our throat more than giving us $15 monsters and whatnot.
2K wants another borderlands. This isn't remotely the same type of game.

Not likely, for a response this large, you'd need more than a single source.
I've seen a lot of shit on Twitter, none of who also are known to frequent channels
