• Odd hard hangs after weekends?

So I've run into a pretty baffling problem after installing a new GTX 970, after the installation the system has become prone to a hard hang of the entire system every now and then. Initially I figured it would be a PSU issue, driver conflicts, outdated BIOS or old SSD drivers that were giving me trouble but during the past month I've been slowly ruling out those potential causes. The PSU is around 4 years old, but sufficient to supply the GPU with power as it is a 750W power supply (or something in that range, the sticker with specifications was removed by the manufacturer). I mostly ruled out the PSU due to the odd behaviour of the crashes, since all of the crashes seem to occur within the first 30 minutes after starting up after a weekend. I mostly use this PC during the workdays when I'm at my apartment, most weekends I spent with my girlfriend and the PC is not used. Oddly enough the pc is almost guaranteed to lock up during first use after the weekend after around 30 minutes. After the initial freeze and power cycling the system might hang a second time, but after that it will work perfectly fine for the entire week. During the last 4 weeks I have been busy trying to find out what causes this odd behaviour, and I cleaned up the cesspool of old GPU drivers and conflicting registry entries. There is no notable event in the event viewer before every crash, the only thing noted is the unexpected shutdown due to the power cycle. Since the system is completely stable for the remainder of the week I don't suspect the PSU of being faulty anymore, but now I remain to be baffled because I don't understand what could cause this hate for mondays. Could it be a static charge building up during the time the system is off? Which might trip up the power supply after 2-3 days of not being used, or is it some very erratic behaviour from faulty hardware? Any ideas?
