• Windows 7 booting issues / corrupted or missing hal.dll

So just yesterday, i encountered some wierd shit. Playing Kenshi on steam, game early in development, usually crashes every now and then. No biggie. But yesterday was different. It froze completely, and ever since then, the first thing i got after restarting my computer, was this: [t]http://i.imgur.com/2aSQ2GU.jpg?1[/t] Holy shit, what? And since then, i've been in this infinite loop of inconsistent shit. This, by the way, usually follows after the complete freeze mention, after either just having logged in windows, in either regular mode or safe mode. This is currently one of the options i randomly get, when i turn off, and turn back on the machine: - Computer starts, monitors don't seem to receive a signal, stays off/black. - Doesn't boot up because of hal.dll being corrupted or missing. - It now boots for whatever reason, but barely five seconds in, after having logged on, it freezes again. - If it still wants to boot when it feels like it, safe mode is the same thing. It might freeze, it might not. Most of the restarting after shit freezes requires me to power down the PSU, just to have any chance of booting, showing stuff on the screen. I've checked and made sure none of my HDD's are dying, i've tried using the windows repair thing, hoping it could spot the notorious hal.dll being a shit, which it fucking even doesn't, nor any other problems for that matter. I tested the RAM, not problems either. Besides reinstalling, and having to go through like 250gigs of shit to keep or delete, is there any other ways of fixing this inconsistent crap? [editline]13th July 2015[/editline] running a System File Check didn't bring up anything either...
Have you tried startup repair from the windows disc as opposed to off the HDD?
Well, i forgot to forgot to write 'startup', but yes. Shows absolutely nothing unusual.
If you have onboard video, see how the machine runs with the graphics card removed. Sounds like something is upsetting the hal rather than corruptions.
