I was browsing around looking for methods for password protecting my folders and i found some batch files (which didn't work on windows 7 apparently) and some software that looks like that trial shareware that I don't want on my computer and could come with a load of unwanted crap. So any suggestions?
recodment
try truecrypt or something
I say truecrypt. Or if you're on Windows 7 Ultimate you could put them onto a disk and use the built in one on it.

BitLocker is horrible. Use TrueCrypt.

Thanks, Truecript worked perfectly.

On a related note, I prefer FreeOTFE.

I agree. I "encrypted" a flash drive. Brought it into school and a friend was able to crack it in like 30 seconds.
But BitLocker is always an option if you need to hide NOT QUITE INCRIMINATING files.
you can create a file that acts like a virtual disk
I use TrueCrypt.
