• Mid Tower or Full tower

I was given one of these from my grandma to work on since I wanted a computer project and have been needing a new one for quite some time: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6748160&CatId=6 I'm probably going to use it for spare parts, but if there is anything out of it I should scrap now would be a good time to tell me. Anyway, I was wondering since the last time I built a computer was '07 if I should go with a full tower case upgrade or a mid sized tower upgrade. With all the new sizes for motherboards combined with normal to optimal parts these days, this is where I hit my snag because I don't want to order a huge case and pretty much do nothing with all the space, or order a mid sized case and have like no room for motherboard and components So if I were to give this like a go and build it with all new parts for pretty much everything, which size tower should I get? I'm not some typical gaming nerd that wants "THE ZOMG PERFICT GAYMING CUMPUTER EV4R!!!1!" I just want a decent computer so it's not going to have like water cooling and all that crap, just like an i7 and some other good components so I can multitask really well which is why I'm asking about the mid tower or full tower case.
Full can be switched, mid can't. Don't constrain your upgrade potential.
Full towers can have better air flow. I highly recommend that you go with a full case, as the possibilities are endless with a full case. Want to get a new SSD or a new graphics card that is HUGE, a full case would have the space for both, a mid would not.
I have a full size case and my gfx card barely squeezes in there. Like Huntsman said they are HUGE. You should go with a full size if your going to get a new gfx card for it.

Full Tower cases are larger and do have naturally have better airflow, though you will find that there are many mid-tower cases such as the Coolermaster CM690 MKII "Advanced" (which I have) which will happily fit 3 2xx series fermi cards (I hear the 4xx's are smaller than the 2xx's but yeah). As the 5970 is longer it would be a squeeze but still possible.
you have a 5970?
4850
4850
then you don't have a full tower
Full, biggest is best
Full. It's not like it is drastically bigger. If i had a full case and a mid case, they would both suck to move around. It's a stationary desktop, don't worry about how big it is.
then you don't have a full tower
You right bro, i thought it was full. My mid case just seemed so big i assumed it was full. Lesson learned never assume xD.
Thanks guys, I was wondering if I should just go with the full tower in case I ever wanted to do anything more with it, I will be moving it around since I help run a gaming tournament in town every year and I just all around usually move my computer around a lot anyways. Anyway, I'll go with the full tower instead of the mid tower. Just wanted to make sure though, is there anything I could scrap out of the Systemax computer? Memory for example or should I just like stick with 6gb and call it good?
4850
that's only 9.25" [editline]14th October 2010[/editline] and guys comparing mid vs full straight on doesn't really work very well as the requirements to be full or mid are very loose and are generally based on what the company feels the case should be more suited toward (eg mid for moving around and full for stationary horsepower, so mid could be as large as a full tower but lighter)
I got a mid one, but it's fucking HUGE! I suggest getting a full because all the kool kidz know that bigger = better. But seriously, if you can afford it, a full is probably better; more airflow, space, etc.
I have a full size case and my gfx card barely squeezes in there. Like Huntsman said they are HUGE. You should go with a full size if your going to get a new gfx card for it.
:frog:
Obsidian series is best non-mountain mod series of case
Full size will give you better upgradeability & airflow its going to be the best overall and future reference but it will cost more & weigh more so moving it around will be a challenge when it comes down to it.
Okay, so I was looking into full towers and I ran into this and almost fell in love. Most of the reviews I've seen for this are pretty much orgasming over this case especially the cable management. If I went for a mid tower, this is probably my top priority for purchase, but I was worried about the non top fan on it. If I chose a mid tower for the mobility advantages, would this be my best bet? Anyways, for full towers I was keen on probably getting the Cooler Master HAF-X. I've read many reviews and looked up some Youtube reviews as well and seems like it's hooked me for a very cable-friendly and good airflow case, is it too good to be true?
buy from newegg and yes those are both great cases but you don't really need the advanced
Okay, thank you.
