It was
Finally. This will be so good with my wheel.
Oh yes, we need a V2 version of that Destruction Derby mode with 3-4 more circuits.:v:
Oooh yay. I certainly loved the first GRiD. It was very pretty and had solid gameplay. I thought it was a great game.

Fuck fuck fuck. Cockpit view is the only way to play racing games.
Bad call!
Lack of cockpit cam is just confusing...
But it's nice to see them going back to GRID. To be honest, I've been pretty disappointed with Codemasters running the Colin Mcrae/Dirt series into the ground.. it'll be good to see them revisiting grid.
He says only around 5% of gamers use it, which to be honest... is kinda fair enough. It's unfortunate for all the cockpit fans, but they're such a massive minority. It is quite pointless for them to create so many interiors for such a small fraction of their audience.
I never used it, but I feel bad for those that do. You can't reeeeeaaally blame the devs though IMO.

How was Dirt ran into the ground?
All of my money, TAKE IT ALL every goddamn last cent of it holy god I want this game so bad I don't even care about lack of cockpit view hnnnnnngggg
[editline]8th August 2012[/editline]
Also keep in mind the fact that in the first GRID few people used cockpit view anyway cause if you bumped into something your windshield smashed into pieces and you couldn't see shit so most people used 3P or hood / bumper view
[editline]8th August 2012[/editline]
Also the first GRiD had a fairly limited car set so maybe the lack of having to model a cockpit will let Codies squeeze more cars into GRiD II?
How was Dirt ran into the ground?
If you play Colin McRae Dirt... and compare it to the new ones, you'll see what I mean.
The Dirt series was like the less-noticed CoD franchise of racing games.

Dirt 3 was a lot better than 2 for me, all the X-games shit was really thrown in your face in 2 and I really hated truck racing. I don't know what the fuck dirt showdown was though.
Unless this game is really really good, I doubt I'll be buying it if there's no cockpit view.
I'm actually not going to get this now cause of the cockpit view being removed.

I really like DiRT 1 and 3, where 3 was a noticeable improvement on 2. The Gymkhana stuff was actually pretty fun when you had to follow a course (the freestyle stuff sucked). And I don't really see how it's like CoD considering each of them are pretty god damn different :v:.
[editline]8th August 2012[/editline]
I know nothing about Showdown though, DiRT 3 is still enough for me.
This is going to be good.

I have a hard time believing that statistic. On arcade games I'll accept that fewer people play in the cockpit than they do in third person, but I find it difficult to believe that only 5% of gamers use interior views.
This will be a no purchase for me unless it has cockpit view. Sorry, but I can't play any other way.

wow so you can't see your own hands but you save the developers shitloads of time because they don't have to model every cockpit for every single car
just use bumper/hood cam and get over yourself

Woah hold on now. Cockpit view is an incredibly integral part of the experience for some people. I like to be immersed in my racing games.
It's like removing the damage modelling from their games. It's not critical to the end result, but it's absolutely important in the feel of the game.
Deciding not to continue doing cock-pit views since almost their first game is pretty dumb imo. driving in dirt 2 and 3 with no hud and sitting in cockpit with high volume is hella fun and immersing
I'll keep an eye on it but I'm really disappointed by the lack of cockpit view. Unless the rest of the game really interests me I probably won't get it.

Showdown is a 100% pure arcade racer.
It has a "boost" button and no cockpit, cars handle like on some playstation 1 arcade racer, it's just... Horrible.
Oh god and the worst, it has no option for manual gears.

That may be because it was announced as an arcade game?
I honestly, honestly can't play games without a cockpit cam anymore. Funnily enough it was GRiD that made me love it and now they're getting rid of it. Stupid...
