The most demanding thing this laptop would have to do is watch videos. I know most laptops in this price range suck, but can someone recommend me the least sucky laptop for the price? Also I'm American, so use sites like Newegg and TigerDirect. This laptop seems to have pretty good reviews, but it's got an older processor in it. I wonder if that's a problem? Your best option in that price range is going to be a used business laptop. They're built like tanks and easy to repair. For example, a used Dell M4600 / T430 comes with a pretty bricky structure but with a new 250GB SSD and 8GB of RAM it'd be faster, more reliable and have a better screen than pretty much anything you could get in that price range. If you're looking for something newer and have a microcenter nearby though, this is an okay deal. I managed to find <this> on Amazon, it looks like it's a used one but it has a fairly decent CPU for the money - also the $340 one has a 128gb ssd installed into it along with windows 10 (Specs are listed below for easier comparison) CPU - i7 2760QM Ram - 4GB SSD - 128Gb GPU - Nvidia NVS 4200M (I believe this is slightly better than intel hd 3000 (for comparison's sake)) OS - Windows 10 Screen Size - 14 inches Or, I've found <This> (also used) CPU - i7 2630QM Ram - 6GB HDD - 750Gb GPU - GT 525M OS - Windows 7 64 bit Screen Size - 15.6 inches
If you have a Walmart in your area and don't mind purchasing refurbished systems (or dealing with Walmart; some people just flat-out refuse to deal with them, which is understandable), Walmart's site tends to have some rather decent deals on laptops that are well within your price range. I'd suggest taking a look at what they have in the lines of new and refurbished systems. I actually found a refurbished HP Silver laptop that's within your $300-$350 price range, though I'm not sure if you'd be fine with a 14" screen or not (most people I've spoken with in regards to purchasing laptops tend to favor something slightly larger for the screen). I've actually had this laptop before, and I'd have to say it's a pretty decent one. A quick summary of what the main specs are for the laptop I linked to: - Intel Core i5-2520M processor clocked at 2.5 GHz - 12 GB of DDR3 SDRAM, which can be expanded up to a maximum of 16 GB - 750 GB hard drive that's loaded with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit For $310 and the given specs, I'd say that's actually a pretty good deal.
You can get some pretty nice second hand Lenovo Thinkpads for next to nothing.. I had a £200 one that I brought and it had an i5 in it.
I'd personally pick up a Dell Latitude E6430 or E6530 off eBay.
Check on eBay. You can get pretty much any laptop with a i5 4200u for about 230$.
