• Quad core CPU, all cores at 90-100% when gaming, PC powering down

So recently my computer has been shutting itself down very often. It happens any time I play a game more stressful than minecraft. Gmod (high settings), and BFBC2 at lowest settings at 1280x720 resolution (native 1920x1080) will shut down my computer (power down, not blue screen) after ~5-10 minutes of gameplay. I used "Core Temp" to monitor the CPU and it is only at around 72 deg C but while playing games all 4 cores have loads around 90-98%. The graphics card is behaving normally as far as I can tell. The computer used to be able to handle these games without issue, graphics card is an GT 120, and it's a Quad Core CPU w/ 2.33GHz with 8GB of RAM, the tower is a Gateway LX6810-01. So what could it be? The first time it powered down may have been during a thunder storm, but I can't recall if it's shut down before or not. So it might be the power supply but I don't know if that's it. Any advice? EDIT: Oh crap, I'm retarded. The graphics card is reading 72 deg C, the CPU is running with a low of 40 high of 55 or so.
Is the temps from when the computer is idle if so you need to dust out the computer. If not that then you may have a bad power supply.

I recall my CPU shutting off my computer during games when the heatsink wasn't on properly. I'm not sure how hot it got, I can't remember. But it may be a good thing to check.
