Final Fantasy VI was better. Though FF has been meh since 8 it's not like we'll see anything good soon.
Remake Final Fantasy VI instead.
I'd agree, but if they follow that "can't remake until we do better" policy for every game then it'll never happen. Nothing can top VI.
it's going to be tough to beat Final Fantasy VII this game will most likey have to be more down to earth (compare to other FF Games like how they use cars and Helicopters instead of the wired shit you use in FFXIII) the game have's to feel alot more darker than other FF Games. that's what I think anyway
"If they were to release a 7 remake right now, the FF franchise would be done with,"
But making redundant sequels and spin offs hasn't done that?
VII and IX please
I want to try VII and IX was amazing.
Man, give me a Mystic Quest remake. I've beaten that thing about five times now because I love it so much.
remake fucking chrono trigger can't they figure that out already?
How exactly would a SNES game be remade?

Higher detail sprites. Higher resolution.

What Janus said, and redone sounds. Possibly another reworking of the dialog.
So basicly they're saying 7 is the only thing keeping final fantasy alive now?
Huh.

They'd probably go the DS route; remake it with 3D, CG cutscenes and voice acting like FFIV but not change the gameplay system up too much.

IX is one of my favorite FF games, if not my favorite.
i don't think anyone would really like a FF7 remake
the gameplay is pretty underwhelming these days, so if they leave it the same people will just assume they fucked it up. if they change it everyone will get angry.
also it would be expensive as fuck to remake. like, probably more expensive than the development costs of any of the newer final fantasies.

Another remake? for what? The DS again or the 3DS?
I liked X a lot.
If/when they finally get around to remaking FFVII, they better not use that god awful voice actor they used for Cloud in Advent Children and Kingdom Hearts 2.
I think if they can't Remake it for awhile why don't they make Final Fantasy VII-2 I belive there was some war 5 year's before FF:VII they could make a long game around that
VIII was the only one I played in any depth. Loved it

I would be pretty unhappy if they used actual voice actors. I hated the voice actors for all the final fantasy games I've played. I'd rather them keep the text dialogue.

3ds I would prefer but chrono trigger is already on ds
I hate how overrated VII is. I'm not saying its a bad game, I love it, but it seems to be the only FF game I hear about. I found every FF game under 10 to be amazing, even today, especially 6. I still love the gameplay of the older ones for some reason, too bad that kind of gameplay is pretty much dead.
It seems Mistwalker, founded by the creator of FF is doing that kind of gameplay though. Lost Odyssey was pretty awesome. World map and a vehicle to move around later in the game, even the same FF composer. Badass
A start would be them never making a shitty MMO again

it's the final fantasy game squeenix has been failing to make for like a decade. the best jrpg of this generation for sure.
So they admit FFXIII isn't going to be their next FFVII.
Then why are they in such a hurry to make XIII-2 and XIII-3? God damnit square, I'll tell you what looks like a promising project, Versus. What the hell ever happened to versus? Every FF fan I know was super excited for that until it got put into the void for take a backseat for these XIII sequels no one was all too excited for.
But then again, I'm not a Final Fantasy fan, never could stand their gameplay takes a back seat to story style. Always been more of a Shin Megami Tensei fan.

That game was surprisingly amazing as all fucks. The biggest landscape of any RPG I've played. It took me 68 hours to play through the story, that's doing only a few sidequests, fast traveling too. About 100 after doing around 100 sidequests. In terms of newer JRPGs that's one of the better ones.
For the classic feeling of timed battles, Lost Odyssey's much better than the past few FF games
