Having gotten Psn+ i realise how horrible live is.
Having gotten steam i realize how horrible live is.
I never had XBL, because of the fee, but I thought PSN did everything Live did.
Live is especially horrible if you live in an unsupported country like I do. Sure you can play online and download stuff from the marketplace but that's about it. Everything else is "lol nope, gotta be in da USA punk".
Nope. PS+ is the way to go. Not because I prefer Sony, but because I'm a cheap bastard and PS+ is good value.
haha no xbl gold is not worth it why would you do that
I set my xbox up which I have about 30+ games for next to my computer pop in borderlands 2
lets just say I bought it on PC immediately after and the difference in control, quality, performance, and what I can do with the game VS xbox is unprecedented.
How anyone could possibly play xbox live any more I have no idea
I enjoy a mixture of my PC and PSN. Pay to have the basic function of multiplayer available? To hell with that.
I've had XBL for 7 years. The more years that go by, the more ads started popping up. You'd think that shit would go away after paying these money suckers for 7 years. Instead, I got a sweet XBL avatar item for my avatar that I never touched in the first place.
Ended my subscription this year. Good job keeping your customers interested, Microsoft!
PS4 you are more than likely going to have to pay for internet service like xbox live anyways.
The only games I really played on Live were Hot Pursuit 2010 and Battlefield 1943. My Live has long since expired so I just rebought HP for like $5 on PC. I do miss playing 1943 though.
I understand they probably thought they had the corner on the gaming market with their Xbox Live fees back then, but seriously, it's just pointless now that the Wii U and PS3 can pretty much do what Live does for free. I hate that I only can play with friends I actually met in high school via Live but have all my games locked down from going online solely because of the goddamn fee that they keep jacking up that I just don't feel like bothering with now.

I live in a country where Xbox Live and Playstation Store are both not supported. This means I can't buy games even if I want to, because they require the credit card that is used to pay to be registered in a supported country.
It's like they don't want money.
Otherwise, PSN lets me play online for free, while Xbox Live does not.
PS+ over gold any day of the week. Having played both consoles....sony's online model is way better in my opinion. Granted they had that outage back in '11 but still, it hasn't stopped PSN from raking in alot of customers.
I find it bullshit that even with a premium, PAID account on XBL, you still get adverts.
Betteridge's law of Headlines says:
NO!
Sony realizes how much money they are missing out on through a paid service like xbox live. The only reason they haven't started a paid subscription service is because the only legal way of them doing that is to change the name of PSN because they said PSN would always be free.
The next playstation will be the perfect opportunity for them to start.
Unless you had a huge backlog of things to play, Xbox Live was never worth it. Paying to play online is a horrible, horrible service. We already do that for our internet connections.
As if it was ever worth it.
Well when I am doing console gaming I play my Ps3 because first of all its free and I love the games that are exclusive to PS3. I never really got why you have to pay for live other than maybe better service with their servers and such but my overall experience with playstation network has been a good one. Even when it went down after Mortal Kombat came out. We still got free games out of that hell if you had the time you coulda made multiple accounts and gotten all the free games (like I did) haha! Plus on Playstation theres random free game giveaways(this is how i got ragdoll kung-fu). BUT! Overall I think Xbox's download speed is much better. That's pretty much it..
Never mind that each major update to the Dashboard exists for the sole reason to cram more adds onto your TV screen.
They say "still" like it was ever worth it.
I find it easier to make friends on the Xbox and the overall online experience is good, but that's it.
In terms of money though, I feel PS+ is a lot better cause of the huge amount of free games, discounts etc the only problem with it is finding time to play these games.
Microsoft really need to pull something out their ass for the next Xbox if they are still going to charge for live because PS+ is going over to the PS4 and once it has been out a year it wouldn't surprise me if we start to see free games cropping up again.
Finding out about having to pay for Xbox Live completely killed any chance of me ever getting an Xbox. I'm not paying for that shit.

An average of 26 adverts just scrolling right. That's not even counting the recommended apps at the front of the app section.
Anyone who still defends XBL Gold must be having some terrible blinding buyer's remorse or something. It's a terrible service when compared to Sony's.
I find it bullshit that even with a premium, PAID account on XBL, you still get adverts.
THIS.
It didn't used to be that way, but once Microsoft figured out that they could do it and people would just blindly accept it, they did it.
Which is why they're shit
I don't even play my xbox anymore. I'd trade it in, but Gamestop would only give me $25 for it.
It's nothing but a dusty old glorified DVD player now.
People can't do anything but accept, unless they have enough money for another system.
They could do what I did and just trade the Xbox for a PS3 or something.
Coming from someone with Xbox Live, everybody likes to exaggerate the experience a lot.
Literally looking at my dashboard right now, there are three advertisements. One in the game section for the US Army, which is a short video that can be entirely avoided if you so choose and doesn't even have audio unless you hover over it. There is a second in the tv & movies section which is advertising that Texas Chainsaw is now available to buy/rent via Xbox Live, which is again a short video with no audio that can be avoided, and lastly on the music section there is another US Army ad video. All of these are in tiny boxes surrounded by other boxes which show new and popular items in their associated sections, such as Nicki Minaj crap in the music section, Star Trek in the movies section and Borderlands 2 in the games section.
The advertisements in a premium service are kind of weird, but they are a very very minor nuisance at the most.
It would be fantastic if they implemented what PSN+ does with the free games and all, and give more options to Silver Live members, essentially like the free part of PSN, however I really have no problems at all paying for Gold.
It's 60 dollars for an entire year of service, and I play quite often. The general rule for games is that if you get an hour of entertainment for every dollar spent, then the price was worth it. I, personally, easily log multiple hundreds of hours on Live within a year, so I have no problems with the price.
Ideally, it would be free, but then again ideally everything would be free. I feel as though they should r rebalance live on the next console, a little bit cheaper, try to mirror Sony's PSN model a bit more for the free side and do something in response to PSN+'s free games, and so on, but I really have no major complaints about paying the price of a new videogame for an entire year of Live.

Wait a minute, missed an ad for pizza rolls on the apps section.
But hey, what does that tell you about said ads if I'm able to entirely miss one?
Also, now I want pizza rolls.
[editline]banans[/editline]
There is also one on the home tab that I didn't notice because it's advertising an arcade game.
So, there are 5 ads total on all of the dashboard, one on home, games, tv & movies, music, and apps, they are rather small and quite often play commercials for upcoming and newly released games, and as demonstrated by me, sometimes aren't even noticed.
Also, most people don't stare at the dashboard, they're usually in a game or app, where there are never ads. There aren't pop-ups or anything, the only ads on Live are small boxes with a picture or video that are static on the dashboard and can be ignored or avoided entirely.
