I am trying to get my nVidia GTX 970 to display on three monitors. I have my main one on HDMI, and two others on DVI. When I disconnect HDMI, DVI displays. Reconnect, DVI dies. What am I missing? I am seeing nothing to fix this in the nVidia Control Panel, or display settings. Edit, sorry, GTX 950.
there was something about this somewhere iirc the output for HDMI uses a DVI path use a different output for the HDMI monitor
So it eventually started working for one monitor. Now my MSI motherboard is not outputting VGA. At all. Second DVI port on this video card is different though so maybe I need a different DVI cable.
How do you have your monitors plugged in? By default, the BIOS disables on board graphics when a video card is plugged in. If you have two monitors on your video card and one on your mainboard, the computer won't display to the monitor plugged in to the mainboard unless you tell it to do so. Though I wouldn't understand why you would want to since the GTX970 supports three monitors on one card.
I had a triple screen set up for a bit with the third being VGA set to the mainboard (DP + DVI on GPU) if you do it this way you have to go into the cpu graphics settings of course, I prefer this way the most
What exact gtx 950 do you have. A card having multiple video outputs, doesnt mean they can all be used at the same time.
Nvidia is pretty notorious for artificially limiting display outputs too. Originally my 680 couldn't use all 4 at once.
You'll probably have to connect at least one of them via DisplayPort.
My EVGA gtx 970 ftw with the sex 2.0 cooler works without a problem with 3 screens, 2 in DVI and 1 in HDMI. Your drivers might be wonky.
You might have to use the DP outputs and one of the HDMI/DVI outputs?
actually, thinking about it, what resolutions of you're using? if you're running more than one 2k or so that could cause issues
I use 3 monitors with a GTX 970. All 1080p though. Two via DVI, then HDMI to HDTV for 3rd. Didn't need to do anything fancy, just plugged in. GTX950 specs say it should support up to 4 monitors. Are they being greasy by not saying at the same time? http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-950/specifications
