I was really looking at Next Car Game. Has anyone played it? I really, really love destruction games, but I'm pretty weary of early access.

The destruction is amazingly fun. Best I've seen. Though the game itself is far from done.
$17 is a pretty big pricetag relative to most other sale games. I may have to just pick it up though.

Not exactly. Next Car Game aims for over the top fun destruction and doesn't try to be realistic.
Final Fantasy XIV is tempting.
If only I had friends to play with.

Try out the Sneak Peek. The gameplay itself is already worth the money. Sneak Peek 2.0 available to purchasers has ~25 AI cars wrecking the shit out of each other. I'm a fan of FlatOut 2 and NCG is already on par despite the current lack of a career mode and car variety, though that's just me as a destruction enthusiast speaking.

In BeamNG it's a miracle your car still drives even after minor collisions. It's more realistic but far less fun, especially with a GUI and controls less intuitive than Next Car Game.
Next Car Game has environmental damage (destroying wooden houses or shattering concrete to name a few examples) which BeamNG doesn't.
I also don't recall BeamNG having a cannon where you can shoot any kind of prop like in NCG.
I recommend Endless Space. The expansion changes the way ships are constructed and military tech is researched and adds a new race so I recommend playing both versions to see what you prefer.
