I remember this mod!
I think I still have a copy of San Andreas around here. I though this mod was called SAMP or was that a different mod? [sp]San Andreas Multi Player[/sp]
This isn't SAMP, its taking a different approach. SAMP is still more popular though.

Would this mod be good for messing around with a few friends?
Would this mod be good for messing around with a few friends?
Yes Mta is so much better than SAMP, shame SAMP is so popular
You have never known the true joy of Multiplayer GTA before you go on a serious roleplaying server with a friend and become the McBeat brothers, where you go to the hospital (respawn area) and beat the shit out of everyone
"Increased max players for a single server to 4096" Holy shit.
MTA:SA is like taking the features out of SA:MP and cleaning it up and making it less shit right from the start. For instance the scripting is so much cleaner and easier to follow imo. Its a shame its not more popular (MTA:SA) [editline]3rd September 2012[/editline] Im considering making a dedicated server
I dont like SAMP. everyone speaks spanish.
This is true. Luckily 4 years of Spanish and living in Texas helped out.
Im considering making a dedicated server
Do it.
Yes Mta is so much better than SAMP, shame SAMP is so popular
MTA isn't popular because when SA was at it's prime MTA was limited to racing gamemodes, meanwhile SAMP allowed you to walk around.
Do it.
While we're at it, have a gang war between gold members and blue members.
While we're at it, have a gang war between gold members and blue members.
So the equivalent of mafia vs ghetto thugs?
This isn't SAMP, its taking a different approach. SAMP is still more popular though.
Only reason SA-MP is more popular is because MTA took the sweet (an well deserved) time. SA-MP push they're through and everything pretty much is crap unless you find a good server. The shooting sync fails in comparison with MTA's.
The population amongst MTA/SAMP is almost even these days, if not even leaning more towards MTA, at least according to Game-Monitor. Tons of good MTA servers exist. I am in a clan that has a race and DD/DM servers set up called -]alw[- and I'm an admin on both as well as do some of the scripting. MTA repairs/fixes are still quite often coming thanks to about 3 devs. We have lost a bunch of the devs to real life stuff but some of them still stick around. Check http://nightly.mtasa.com/ for the latest builds with the newest features and http://code.google.com/p/mtasa-blue/source/list/ for the latest commits by devs. Also here's a video of a cool feature one of the devs it working on. It allows car parts to be rotated on the model's pivot point in relation to the vehicle position. This is still really unfinished but it's a cool feature nonetheless. Expect working convertibles, popup headlights, all sorts of stuff. Transformers ? :o
Oh god. Memories.. Good old TTown times. I apparently was the best 12-13 year old admin there :v:
I dont like SAMP.
I find SAMP much easier to use because you mainly just use the chat to write commands. It depends on the server. I joined a RP server once in MTA:SA and it was really confusing.
How is that easier ? How do you know the commands ? Type /help and it spams your chat ? MTA has a help menu that, if the scripter is competent enough, will list out all the commands, or even help you with using the UI. There's literally no reason to use SAMP anymore. MTA outweighs it in every way except if you like PAWN over Lua ( have mercy on your soul )
