Hey i want to build a computer that can run most games out today and also be able to run movies in hd.
i have some parts chosen.
Prosseser= http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103656&cm_re=amd-_-19-103-656-_-Product
RAM= http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220396
HDD= http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136218
Optical Drive= http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136144
case= http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811156063
I want to leave the MOBO and the graphics card to u guys because i dont really know wich MOBO will fit and which GPU is good
PSU= http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371025
so far it is $355.95 so that leaves alot more for the GPU and MOBO
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136168 SATA optical drive
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130249 MSI crossfire capable mobo
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231277 4GB Ripjaws RAM
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103644 OEM Phenom II 940
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065 Hyper 212+
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.543371 HAF 912 + Spinpoint F3 1TB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.562860 5830 + XFX 650W
total: $610
nice build but dont you think i could go for a better prosseser and some faster RAM?
also the case looks kind of boxy dont you think?
is this build finalized?
i am kind of a noob and this is my first build so i dont know what parts fit with what
can anyone vouch for this build?
Reapaninja's build is pretty decent, but I'd replace the 5830 with an 6850 and the Phenom II X4 940 with a Phenom II X4 955, even if it costs a bit more.
Reapaninja's build is pretty decent, but I'd replace the 5830 with an 6850/6870 and the Phenom II 940 with a Phenom II 955.
that will bring it way over budget, I wouldn't have bothered with the 5830 if it wasn't for that combo
and the 940+Hyper212 is an excellent deal, for the price of a 925 you're getting a better CPU and much better cooling that will let you overclock
[editline]28th November 2010[/editline]
and when the 5830 starts to outgrow his needs he can buy a second one for a cheap upgrade
i might be upgrading later like in 2 years or so but i would like the current build to last 3-4 years and be able to play all of the most current games on good settings and also be able to play future games on medium- high settings
Are the OP's links not working for anyone else? I can't tell how good this would be.
EDIT: Nevermind, they're up now.
OP's specs look pretty decent, but not knowing what Mobo you're getting could be pretty complicated, and you might have to change a lot of things to get it to work. On newegg, look around at the mobos and find one that's compatible with your processor (it'll say whether or not it's compatible with Phenom II processors), and find one that's in your price range, then make that the parts you picked out will work with it. Mobo's have listings of part types they're compatible with, I haven't seen any that don't tell you what part type they are.

depends on your resolution
at 1680x1050 or lower this should easily last that long on anything that isn't hard to run (crysis) or just plain unoptimised (saints row 2, gta4)
[editline]28th November 2010[/editline]
for the average game it should be alright at 1920x1080 too, but I wouldn't expect it to last 3+ years at that without turning a lot of settings down
yah i guess i probably will be upgrading in two - three years and my moniter is crap.... it says LCD and i think it is probably 480p or 720p
5830 is such a terrible card.
[editline]28th November 2010[/editline]
But that price is too good.

Final build?
can anyone find a better one for 650..?
or should i just go with this one?
if you want to use more of your budget there's a combo with a 5850 instead of the 30 but that puts the total price up to $670
the 5830 is probably enough for your needs anyway
i could do $670
and btw,is this a good HDD? = http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148433&cm_re=1tb-_-22-148-433-_-Product
480p screen? What?
480p screen? What?
i mean to say that is the highest quality to which it can display
and also it isnt big
How big is it? Because that is exceptionally small.
it is probably anywhere from 14-15 inches wide and it is 4 years old so that might make a difference
i could do $670

not worth it, the spinpoint F3 is easily worth the $5 difference
so what is the finalized build?
just go with my build above in the second post
swap the PSU and graphics card combo for this one if you want to spend a bit more http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.562859
but it isn't really necessary

thanks for your help and do youi know anywhere i can get a good moniter?
[editline]28th November 2010[/editline]
can this computer un games like gmod, crisys, dead rising, black ops, starcraft, and age of empire?
[editline]28th November 2010[/editline]
one more question, will the MOBO and Prosseser fit together?
for the monitor I'm not one to ask about them but I do know Asus and Samsung make good ones
yes this build should run all of those fine, probably not maxing crysis at a decent resolution but still decent settings
no problems with MoBo and CPU as far as I know
[editline]28th November 2010[/editline]
wait shit I think I got it the wrong way round, AM2+ CPUs don't work in AM3 mobos
[editline]28th November 2010[/editline]
sorry OP I didn't see the 940 was socket AM2+, changed the build to this

do i need any thing to put the parts together and shit cuz this is my first build and i really dont know about thermal paste and stuff
could i order these parts and put them all together without any thing else or do i need to buy cables and thermal paste and whatnot?
[editline]28th November 2010[/editline]
do i need anything else to put these parts together? like thermal past and cables and whatnot? if i do need this stuff can anyone provide me a link?
you'll need 2 SATA cables for the optical drive and hard drive, one comes with the mobo here's a second http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812270302
thermal paste comes already applied to the stock cooler that comes with the CPU
I'd suggest you look up some videos on youtube or something for the main building part, it's best shown visually
also check out the cabling guide I wrote in this thread http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1028195-Building-a-PC-It-s-like-Lego-Blocks-Not-Rocket-Science.
