Hey, so I don't have TV, I connected PS3 to my Monitor via HDMI (monitor doesn't support HDMI so I used HDMI to DVI converter). So no sound. I have small like 3.5mm jack cable which splits into red, blue and green. I tried using the composite cable from PS3 to connect directly to that going into Line In (blue port) didn't work or not sure of settings. help please? I need sound .
As far as I know, you cannot use both HDMI and Component/Composite cables on the PS3 at the same time.
oh, sucks. What are my options other than buying a TV?
I'm not 100% sure what you're saying, though the 3.5mm jack on your LCD monitor will output sound to go to a set of speakers. If it doesn't you may need to check the settings on the monitor or something.

My set up has my video going out of my PS3 via HDMI, and audio going through component/composite. To set it up, I think you have to go to sound settings -> audio output settings in the XMB.

As in: From PC it comes out female cables : Green, blue and red, while from PS3 it comes out male White, red, yellow. [editline]7th October 2012[/editline] nevermind guys, got it working. Just for future to anyone: PS3 Component cable -> White to Blue/Red to Green -> PC Line in (blue) and change settings.
As far as I know, you cannot use both HDMI and Component/Composite cables on the PS3 at the same time.
Apperantly I'm a wizard then, because I can. Requires you to force it to output video via HDMI, and audio out via composite. Look in the settings menu.
It's very easy to enable this via the output settings :v
It's already solved, but I'll post the simplest method for future reference: 1 - Connect the HDMI to the monitor as usual 2 - get yourself one of these adaptors: [thumb]http://www.pccables.com/images/35mm_STEREO_JACK_M_TO_2_RCA_F_ADAPTER.jpg[/thumb] 3 - plug the component / composite cable (RED and WHITE, not yellow) into the female inputs of the adapter 4 - Plug the adapter into the computers mic input, and make sure you set it to listen to the device (so that you can hear the input through your PC spreakers) 5 - Go into sound settings on your PS3, and set the sound to be output through composite / component. Done.
