My 9800GT is displaying artifacts, so I guess it's time for an upgrade. My budget is $200 and under, and was looking for something that could run most games on high settings at 1680 by 1050. I'm considering a 4850, 5770, and 5830. Specs- AMD Dual Core 5200+ 2.7 GHz 4 gigs of RAM Mobo- Asus M3A32-MVP PSU- 750 Watt I'm in the US as far as shipping goes.

4870/4890 are really good except if you want to play STALKER (and maybe Crysis) [editline]01:33AM[/editline] 4890 has performance between 5830 and 5850

Don't go with anything new with nvidia as of now, mainly because they are reusing parts and prepare to have your fans be the loudest thing in your room as it heats up. Even your younger brother wouldn't compare.

Shut up both of you, ATI is like AMD and Nvidia is like Intel. If someone is on budget, then he should go with ATI, otherwise Nvidia is ok. [editline]11:25AM[/editline] And seriously, Nvidia has no cards on this range of price, unlike ATI.

A single 460GTX is more expensive in Europe (230-260€ in the same price as 5830/5850). And seriously, an HD 4890 is better in this range of price, except if you don't find one. Edit: Changed my mind about Gtx460, much better value than gtx465.
A single 460GTX is more expensive in Europe (230-260€ in the same price as 5830/5850) so it's not very recommended here.
The guy is American so the price in Europe is irrelevant.
Don't worry ADT is known for his damn right incorrectness, just listen to people who can help you. Anyway get a 5xxx or a low end 4xx

4890s are one of the best GPUs. Between a 5830 and a 5850

[editline]04:07PM[/editline]
The 4870 and 4890 works fine in these games what are you on about?
Stalker is more an Dx11 game than everything else. The performance is increased considerably on DirectX 11 than Dx9/10
