My really old Logitech Wireless Keyboard is on it's way out, keys are sticking, it's uncleanable, and I just hate it and want a new keyboard.
Browsing around, I saw a Saitek Cyborg v.5 at my local Best Buy and had never seen it before. It was $49.99 (USD) and pice-wise it was a far cry from the high cost of 89.99 for a G15. I do not need a G15, I just want a nice gaming keyboard that will sustain through lots of wear and tear.
This is the keyboard itself, and the Best Buy page associated with it. I'm not looking for a top-of-the-line keyboard, mainly because I'm not a huge fan of frills and simply put, I don't have the money for it. However, if you have a better keyboard that's UNDER $60, I'd be willing to hear it.

Looks like a re-branded Eclipse. They're basically identical.

Yeah, they look the same, but that doesn't help me any. Is the Eclipse good, then? If I could copy and paste the specs from the Best Buy page without the formatting fucking up I would.
Yeah, it's pretty good.
For 50 or less you can get an eclipse 2
I have this, I didn't look up the price on this or the Saitek and this is probably considerably more expensive but the Razer Tarantula works great for me

I'm not a fan of the low-profile keys otherwise that would be perfect.
The saitek eclipse 1 was legendary.
That is not the cyborg you are looking for.

Got this and the mouse in the same series for christmas, fuckin' love it.

I have that keyboard, it is awesome.
PS:It can't actually float though.
Eclipse II is way better.
It's either a mechanicle keyboard or go home
It's either a mechanicle keyboard or go home
That was very helpful, you made my life easier now,
It's either a mechanicle keyboard or go home
No, that's overpriced garbage.
Mechanical keyboards aren't gimmicky, and they're not expensive, given their lifetime/dollar rating.

If you're going to get a customizer, just find a Model M and clean it. However I can't recommend enough something with Cherrys (or Topres if you're made of money). If the small keyboard size puts you off, look into the Scorpius M10. The stories of poor build quality are from the past; I've seen 3 of them in person, and they've all been fine.
They look like 15 year olds wet dream after he just finished watching "Hackers"

What makes a mechanical keyboard better? Is the feel that great?
What makes a mechanical keyboard better? Is the feel that great?
it makes a cool noise when you hit the keys
The entire buzz about mechanical keyboards is the fact they're amazing to type on just because of the physical response you get from them. Normally, you have to bottom a key out to get any kind of noise or feedback from them to know you've pressed a key, which can be stressful on your hands. Mechanical keyboards are designed where every key uses its own buckling spring or its own switch (depending on the keyboard) which clicks when you press it. Every time you press a key, you know you've pressed it when it clicks and can move onto other keys faster as a result without having to bottom the keys out. It makes less strain on your hands and it does improve typing speed over time.
Not only that, but they're usually more robust in design too, because instead of a cheap mesh which degrades over time, buttons, switches, and buckling springs aren't going to degrade and get softer, and even if one goes bad, you can simply replace the single switch. If a dome goes bad, you have to replace the entire keyboard. Most mechanical keyboards are also designed with strength in mind (just look at the Model M) while most dome keyboards are made a dime a dozen with cheap outsourced parts.
Thanks for the comprehensive response.

Using Eclipse II at moment, it is great and I would highly recommend.
Das keyboard are mechanical right? You should get one. I would get one if I didn't have my g19.
I don't want a mechanical keyboard. With that said, can someone give me a definite answer about a good keyboard without being vague? Goddamn it's like you guys have excessive ADD within one sentence.
No, that's overpriced garbage.
Logitech G19 for 200 or ABS M1 for 50
You decide.
Saitek eclipse 2 is awesome may i say.

You don't want a mechanical keyboard because you've never tried one.
But I suppose if you want a keyboard that's known to have little things break here and there and feels like sticking your fingers into a tray of jello, then yes, the saitek is for you.
I mean come on, I realize that the jump to mechanical keyboards is difficult because you don't really know what you're getting into until you've actually tried one. However if there are this many people in here speaking on behalf of them, there's got to be something to them. Do yourself a favor and at least read up on them a little bit:
Das keyboard are mechanical right? You should get one. I would get one if I didn't have my g19.
All of the Das keyboards have had build issues, and the old Das keyboards came with a worse controller than the standard IBM Matrix, which created some key ghosting and places under which only 2 keys at a time would work.
I suppose most of that's cleared up in the past couple of years, but if you're really in that price range, a Filco Majestouch Tactile Click (Otaku is up to you) would serve much better and last longer.
My Eclipse II is approaching a year old in July. Absolutely nothing wrong so far with it. I am extremely happy with it and when I buy a new one will probably buy the Eclipse III.

You're in no position to insult my preference on keyboards. You're too conceited and uptight with a mechanical keyboard and you can't respect the fact that not everybody has to like the same thing.
Jackass.

One of the best buy i have done to my pc.
I had the earlier model posted above (the blue one). It was a bit "faulty" when it came to response, but that's what you get from Saitek. If it helps your decision, the demonic game controller firm Mad Katz owns the company.
