There are a lot of games that are more worthy of GOTY 2012 than this one though.

It won the BAFTA for Best Game so they at least have a case. Borderlands 2 on the other hand...
I really enjoyed dishonored but the blink really made it a bit too easy. Or rather the enemies needed more ways of dealing with your ability to instantly teleport around the map.

I found that quicksaving made it too easy for me. To really challenge myself, I set the difficulty to the hardest one, limited my quicksaving, and didn't use dark vision until the end
Dark vision, blink, sleepy darts, patience, all you need.

I'm currently playing on a no manual/quick-saving and ghost run. Basically whenever I get detected I start from the latest point where the game auto saved.
This reminds me that I should really finish Dishonored. I kind of stopped playing at some point and I don't even know why. I had so much fun with it.
I really enjoyed Dishonored, it was better written than I thought at first.
I'm hoping for a sequel set in the Pandyssian continent, hopefully with some different accents.
I loved Dishonored.
It was maybe a little bit too easy 'cause of that blink gimmick, but the artstyle, atmosphere, environments and everything else were just top notch.
Dishonored was great but the ending was probably one of the most flaccid things I've ever experienced
I watched my friend play the first hour or two of this when it first came out and it looked good, but I didn't really want to pick it up for a full $60. I may get this for my PS3 since it comes with all the DLC.

The game is easy as fuck especially once you find out that there is virtually no actual penalty for doing poorly. The game encourages you to play stealthy to get the good ending and such, but as soon as you realize that the bad ending is actually better than the good ending, there is really no incentive gameplay wise to be discrete by any mean. Not to mention the tons of absolutely op arsenal the game throws at you.
The atmosphere, however, is pretty damn nice. If anything it's one of those games like Mirror's Edge that would have greatly benefited from a complete lack of fighting rather than the poorly executed, boring combat systems we currently got.

What games were better? while Dishonored is not the best game iv'e ever played it was one of the very few titles that stood above mediocrity.
As far as I'm concerned 2012 was a washout for games, a couple of great games here and there but for the most part there was just alot of OK games and a whole catalogue of failed potential.

Except for the fact that the game gets punishingly hard when you are a murderous psychopath. [sp]More weepers, etc.[/sp]
That's not incentive if I've ever seen it.
I need to get back to playing Dishonored. I should probably restart so that my chaos isn't messed up.
I didn't mind the easy difficulty, it was more about the choices you made.
Though it also kind of sucked in that regard with how kill a certain amount of people = bad at the end even though death would arguably have been a more humane decision for some people.
Personally I loved the game and the storyline was pretty fantastic.

I wish they took it further. When they said that killing more people would increase the amount of rats and weepers I thought the streets could be full of them, so if you killed everyone you'd end up having to keep to the rooftops if you didn't want to get overwhelmed. As it is there doesn't really seem to be a massive difference.
It'd have been good if it were cumulative, as well, so things kept getting worse over the course of the game, instead of killing enough people each mission putting you in the same static "bad" setting.

More things you can just shoot in the face. If you're playing aggressively, more enemies isn't really an issue because you'll just shoot and stab more people.
I want to like Dishonored but I cannot stand the fucking terrible use of a silent protagonist that game has.
Gameplay was super fun though.

The walking dead, Max Payne 3, Hotline Miami, Far Cry 3 are good contenders.
Completed Dishonored like 4 times this year on very hard without killing anyone just for a personal challenge, after a while it does get pretty easy to achieve, have never given the DLCs a go though, are they worth it at all?

After a while? I mean maybe I play too many stealth games or something but on my first play through I did pacifist on the hardest difficulty and found it so easy as to be totally dull. I kept playing expecting the game to get more difficult but suddenly the game ended when I was still stuck in tutorial mode. This is probably the most disappointing game of that year for me, especially considering how they squandered such beautiful art assets and an imaginative universe.

From what I've heard the DLC is better than the main game.

If you liked the base game then yeah. The missions are at least as good as the main story, and there's some cool new stuff (powers, enemies, etc...).
Even though the DLCs aren't very long (and the first one reuses a map from the base game), 20€ for what is pretty much on par with the main game (if not better) on every aspect is still a pretty good price imo.
