• Windows 7 ISO won't burn to DVD.

Well, a few days ago, I decided I wanted to go back to Windows XP, as quite a few things weren't working with 7. My wireless card, albeit old, doesn't have any 64-bit drivers, and makes my computer BSOD on startup. Many of my favorite games don't work in 64-bit, which pisses me off to near extreme levels. I noticed that when I installed Windows 7, XP was just moved into the folder named 'Windows.old', so I looked up how to revert to that. I got this page: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971760 Now, it says I need the Windows 7 disc again to get to the command prompt. I don't have the disk anymore, so I thought I'd burn a new one as I still have the ISO. Now is where I got really ticked off. I put in a blank DVD into my DVD burner, opened up PowerISO, and clicked burn. It checked the data, said it was ok, and tried to burn it. Then an error came up. I don't remember the error, and I don't much want to get it just to put it on here, as it forces me to restart the entire computer. When it comes up, the DVD drive acts as if it's doing something, and won't let me open the drive unless I restart the entire computer. I tried it on my other computer, and I got the same error. I thought it might be bad data, but I don't see how it could be, as I burned it to DVD before, and it extracts just fine. However, the extracted data won't burn to disk either. I was wondering if there was some fix to this, but that seems unlikely. So instead, I was wondering if there was some way to revert to XP in a different fashion. This is really pissing my off, and I just want to get it over with, so any help is appreciated. Because the morons who sold me the computer didn't give me the disk to XP for the computer, I'm going up there someday to get it from them. Thanks in advance.
buy a legal copy of 7
Windows 7 is better
Do not ask for help if you are so lazy you won't restart your computer to retrieve the error, as what you just posted leaves only about 400 possible problems.
buy a legal copy of 7
I will when I want to. Don't assume that this is a pirated version or something, it's the RC, build 7100. Also, I think I may have gotten it to work, sorry for being a little pissy. I'm burning it using just Windows, I'm not sure why that wasn't working earlier, but it seems to be now. Any other information before I do what the support page in the OP says? [editline]08:25PM[/editline] Nope, it didn't work, halfway through it got a burning error, (Nothing specific, it just said it couldn't burn the disc). Also, the error that PowerISO gives is as follows:
Burning failed (-109, 9b7e9c5c).
Is there any other way to get into just the command prompt so I can do it? This is really starting to bother me.
Windows 7 has a built in ISO burner, just double click on the .iso file and hit start. It might be worth a try just to see if it might be something with PowerISO.
For the love of god ImgBurn.

That worked, thanks Veers.

Hm, at the part where I have to type:
Attrib –h –s –r boot.ini.saved Copy boot.ini.saved boot.ini
Do I have to do anything extra? It says it can't find the file?
Use ImgBurn.
Use ImgBurn.
If you can see the post above, that problem has been solved. However, now my Windows XP has no boot.ini file, and therefor does not boot. I could really use some help here.
boot into windows cd click startup repair
boot into windows cd click startup repair
That doesn't work, as I've already moved all of the Windows 7 stuff to the Win7 folder. This is getting pretty fucking lame, really need an answer here. Is there any way to create a .ini file through the command prompt called boot.ini, and add the necessary text?
boot into linux livecd and make it
uhh boot.ini is not driver related
Ugh, I'm just going to reformat completely to a clean installation of Windows 7.
Forget DVD's just go make yourself a Win7 usb boot drive. You can install off of it much quicker than you can off of a DVD. http://kmwoley.com/blog/?p=345 There's a :krad: guide to do it.
