Me and my cousin were looking around and found A Tower in our relative's basement. Its pretty old. It's from 1995. It's got a bigass case, and plenty of room for parts. So facepunch, what should we do with this? My cousin has been lookin for a good build to game on since his laptop is messed up. Discuss.
Pics
See if it can run Crysis.
Picsnowpls.
You could reuse the case.
Burn it for warmth
I don't have the tower currently. You'll have to wait till at least next week. D:
Seriously, build a beefy computer in it.
It would be awesome to see this extremely crappy, old looking computer running Crysis at max.
I question if a case that old even supports ATX form-factor motherboards...
Well it could. ATX was introduced in 1995

It's likely an ATX mid tower. That's been the major form factor since 1995.
We still have one of these in our basement, too ugly to put a decent computer inside of. It's a full tower gateway case.

In 1995 it was about $1600 with a 15" CRT, 2 GB hard disk, 133 Mhz Processor, 16 MB RAM, and it had a video card of some kind.
You should put a really, really good computer in there.
Seriously.
Then bring it to a LAN party and see how people react.

Should have done that with my old '95 build.
I can probably get a hand on a few old ass dells that look like a full atx case.

My mom had a beast from 95/96, and it had an AT motherboard in it. Unless I just brain-farted and ATX boards fit in AT cases...
Pimp it

AT boards fit in ATX cases, not sure about the other way around.
This reminds me of when i got my desk a few months ago and I found 64MB sticks, 500MB HDDs, and a couple 3GB HDDs.
Same!
I was thinking of modding it

1600 dollars for a 2 gig hard drive. What is the world coming to? hahaha. Could you imagine if that trend continued to today?

That was a pretty amazing spec back then
Can it run Homeworld?
Can you imagine how many text files you could fit on 2gb of space!?
Haha yeah it's just amazing to think of how far computers have come in the last 20 years.

Makes me sad to think of what amazing things I'll be missing out on in 2110

You won't if science has anything to do about it! :science:
AT boards fit in ATX cases, not sure about the other way around.
Wrong. AT boards have different mounting hole positions and the back of all AT boards have the 5 pin DIN connector for the keyboard.
ATX boards definitely won't fit in an AT case.
And even though the ATX standard was introduced in 1995, it wasn't in widespread use until late 1996, early 1997.

We'll have blown ourselves up by then.

I 100% agree. I highly doubt humans will be around in a few hundred years.
Hmm
Wnat a bet?
