• Good places to travel during the winter

My dad and step-mom love to travel to Cuba and Mexico atleast once a year. For Christmas this year I want to send them somewheres south they haven't been, but i honestly have no idea what would be a good place they'd enjoy. Can anyone point me in a good direction?
Come to my piece-of-shit of a country, if--AND ONLY IF--you're sick of the cold during the 4th qtr.
Helsinki, Finland. It's beautiful in winter. Also cold, and lots of snow. But obviously every time I suggest an American / Canadian to travel to the capital of Finland, it goes unnoticed. This is a very cool city, and anyone who has visited this place has been amazed how awesome it is.
Scandinavia Russia parts of Eastern Europe
Switzerland
Isn't really "south"
Didn't see that, when its winter, Switzerland comes to my mind. Maybe OP's parents like the sea and the sun. The tropics like Indonesia or Borneo?
borneo's not really got too much going for your "average tourist" i mean you could do some scuba diving, cave exploring and stuff, but there's not a massive amount of touristy things to do. then again, maybe that's just what your parents are after!
I'm pretty sure they're the lame kind of tourist, I always get shitty t-shirts, so I assume they just go for all the comforts of home with hot weather and beaches, which I can't really blame them for, winter is depressing. I'll have to ask them what they like to do down there to get a better grasp. if they're very touristy tourists then i wouldn't really recommend borneo (and probably indonesia) at all. there wouldn't be enough plain beaches to lay on and to get a good/high western quality standard you're probably going to be paying a stupid amount. i see a lot of S.E. asia as being for the slightly "off the beaten track" types :P that said, Thailand could be good! there's plenty of beaches and touristy things to do there, especially if they head down to the islands (phuket, koh phi phi etc.), but i think there's generally a younger traveller scene there. i guess it really comes down to how much money they want to spend, and how long they want to travel!
wisconsin buy some cheese and get drunk
Yeah I wanted to send them somewheres they haven't been but isn't too out there. I was thinking the Bahamas but that's a little close to where they've been. Thailand sounds like what I might be looking for, i'll put some research into it, thanks.
Somewhere where it isn't winter
