• Which iPod is for me?

Well after recently getting a car I'm needing some sort of iPod for the in car controls which makes life easier. But to be honest I haven't a clue about iPods and stuff. The reason why is I'm after one I can install rockbox on so it can play flac files(I can't be bothered converting them all) and so I don't need itunes. I've also heard they've got pretty awesome sound quality. So I'm wondering if the apple section can help me find a suitable iPod. I was thinking an iPod classic but if anyone else knows otherwise please tell!
-snip, I misread the OP- The iPod with the best battery life at the moment is the iPod touch, if I remember correctly, and in my opinion the one with the best sound quality also. For space I would go with an iPod classic though.
I don't think the latest iPod classic can run Rockbox. You should get a 5th gen iPod Video
I'm using an iPod Touch 2G and love it - I'd recommend it if you want a cheap one that's not very outdated.
Doesn't support flac and I don't need/want an iOS device.
my iPod doesn't support FLAC, but I keep all my music synced up using foobar2000 with the iPod manager plugin, which allows you to freely copy any music to your ipod without iTunes, also supporting FLAC.
Isn't there some kind of 'iPod event' in about 2 weeks? Maybe you should wait for it (new iPod likely to be announced).
Get an Ipod touch and jailbreak it and then put VLC on it and such

Gonna probably grab a 5th Gen video or normal iPod. Latest one that supports Rockbox and has a decent storage!
iPod Shufflol
