New monitor (left) is ViewSonic VX2253mh-LED, old one (right) is a ViewSonic VX2260wm.

Both seem to have slightly different colors even when using the same profile.
What's up with it?
Well you probably just bought a shitty monitor.
The new one is from the same ViewSonic series (VX) and costed the same the monitor on the right did at the time of purchase. What the fuck.
Did you try adjusting the settings on the monitor?
Besides that it's bright, the diffusion of the light is shit. I'd return it and get a decent brand monitor like Samsung, Sony, LG, Acer, HP, etc.
Viewsonic is a terrible brand of monitor. As far back as I can remember, all of their monitors have been trash.
Their older CRT monitors were known for catching on fire due to faulty PCB designs and sketchy components. The few LCD/LED models I've seen have had trash power boards with some of the same problems of bad PCB design and sketchy MOSFETs and capacitors.

Even models of the same type can have wildly varying components. (some Samsung es4000 have h-ips screens others s-ips etc)
These are actually different models, it can be a totally different screen.

The monitor on the right is pretty amazing, and it's a ViewSonic...

are they all really that bad? that's kinda bullshit

okay so i changed display mode to yuv on the monitor and to ycbcr444 in nvidia settings and it looks much better now, except for the backlight.
