Get a 4870 and then you can add another cheaply later on to improve performance.

from what i've read the sapphire ones are more prone to problems. And ive had bad experiences with them in the past.
The cards are essentially the same just some have custom coolers and the companies offer different warranties and customer support.
Sapphire are really good.
4870 definitaly the better choice here.

I did have the misfoutne to use the 3850 AGP which worked only when it damn well felt like it.
and it was always to sleepy to too hot.

That's because that card is weird, doesn't like AGP for some reason.
