Winamp, while really light and customizable has it's issues with sizing and file naming. The former stuff is great and essential, while the latter is something I hate. Plus I just wanna try something new.
So, suggest a audio player. Only requirements is that it isn't slow, very lite and supports lots of audio codecs (namely .FLAC)
Thanks in advance.
foobar
VLC i
Not really lite, but try Zune, fantastic piece of software.

what's wrong with vlc
oh why did you say media player in the title and then audio player in the OP, if you wanted a media player then vlc, audio foobar2000
Going to say Zune on this one honestly, at least for a cool jukebox. It interprets my media the way I like it, so eh. If you're forced to have an iDevice, then oh well.
I switched to Foobar2000 from Winamp recently.
It is a good choice
I use iTunes for my phone so I have iTunes anyway. Does Zune support .FLAC?
Also, Foobar is a little too minimalistic for me.
people whats wrong with windows media player ?
I use media monkey gold, and spotify. Love them both
But Gold is not free.
The only media player that I have actually used is iTunes. So can anyone tell me why other ones like Foobar or Winamp are better?
Foobar2000:
Lightweight (iTunes startup time: >10s, Foobar2000: <1s)
Very customisable (shorcut keys, UI, etc)
Support for more codecs (FLAC, ogg, etc)

where did you get these stats?...my itunes loads up in under 3 seconds. I wouldn't recommend it (need it for new shuffle) but those seem like bullshit numbers.
no one uses ogg lol

do you have a SSD?
no, 7200rpm 1.5 tb seagate.

Sadly.
Also, not very lightweight, but there's Seabird.

Woops, Songbird

Media player'd be MPC.
As said before foobar is probably your best bet, it's fast, doesn't use much resources. There's also craploads of custom configurations if you don't like the default theme
My Itunes loads up in about 2-3 seconds. And I'm using a 300GB Velociraptor. Actually its installed on my 640GB Caviar Blue Western Digital drive.
I would switch over to Foobar if the transition was painless. I renamed all my songs so it looks legit. I set up all the album covers to look nice. I set up lyrics and such. I am not going through 6 months of work just because it loads up faster and can play 'better quality' music. The only thing I want in high quality is fucking 1080P/720P movies. I don't need to have an ear orgasm. I especially don't wanna have to listen to Ke$ha being autotuned in super high quality.
Foobar 2000 is great. Just installed it.
I perfer winamp it can dock and drop down its nice

Everything comes to mind. No support for FLAC, OGG, AAC, M4A, etc.
If you want a lite media player - VLC.
If you want compatibility - VLC.
Anything else?
I use vlc for videos, foobar for music
I just use VLC or Spotify.
MusicBee is my favorite. It's like a very lightweight MediaMonkey and Winamp but with more features out of the box and the best auto-tagging and tag management I've seen in a music player.
foobar2000
Windows Media Player (its already installed) and the Shark 007 codec pack: http://shark007.net/
I use Itunes because of the media keys plugin that lets me change the song without alt tabbing out of my game. Just press the skip forward arrow on the keyboard and it's set.
I'm also used to it. That helps too.
