My pc is around 4 years old now and can only just run GMOD.

I basically want to upgrade whatever I can with my £200-300 budget.
I also want to purchase a sound card that will support 5.1 speakers.
What are you hoping to run and do with this upgrade?

Mostly gameing I would really like to be able to use my 22" monitor on the max resolution, I am only able to play GMOD @: 1024x768 with this graphics card, would also like it to use HDMI?
That processor is old as shit - it's time for an upgrade if you're serious about any type of gaming. Although a budget of £200-£300 isn't going to get you much. Also, do you know what standard your case it (ATX, mATX etc.)

Don't worry - I got it. It's Micro ATX.
That motherboard does have PCI-E, which means an update isn't immediately required, but I doubt the perform increase you'd get from upgrading to a C2D would be worth it.
A C2D is the maximum your motherboard supports.

You can get a Sandy Bridge Core i3 system for within your price range, but only just.
You could reuse the hard drive, and probably the DVD drive, and it should all fit inside your current case.
You will most likely need to reinstall Windows, and you may as well use the 64-bit version if you have it.
The motherboard should support '8 channel audio', which I think is the same (or close enough) to 7.1 Surround Sound - with the correct drivers installed of course.
Usually I'd suggest something more than the 6670, but in this case, the budget won't stretch that far.
Thanks man, what website is all that from?
I see you've found a new mobo yet you said my mobo is fine?
That's all from eBuyer. They're pretty trustworthy.
I said your motherboard was fine in the sense that it was average. The new components won't work on it, as the maximum it can accept is a Core 2 Duo, which is still an outdated investment.

You should probably see triple digits (framerate) with those improvements in GMod, and be able to muster some newer games like Battlefield 3 too.
