I do not know why we get an AoE 2 remaster considering that the successful HD edition was released some time ago.

it wasn't successful, nor really HD
successful in terms of money, yes, but not the game itself. It's still horribly laggy and buggy, worse than vanilla, to the point where pretty much everyone who plays the game online does so using the original game+a userpatch. I think this one is going to be actually hd like aoe 1 (aka, new graphics options+ui, ai updates, that sort of thing)

I just hope AoE 4 is released on Steam. I fucked up my Windows Store and cba to fix it and get some MS spyware in my PC.

dont worry, im sure it will be because ms are dumb as hell
but they're testing crossplay with rise of nations extended edition (which is on steam and is coming to the windows store) so they might release them later down the line to steam, or on both at once.
