So System Shock 3 might happen? [sp]Then what's the point of Bethesda's "Prey." which is said to be a spiritual successor to System Shock?[/sp]

System Shock 3 was teased at the end of the previous game no less, and Night Dive is actually really solid and dedicated with this stuff, the only problem they had originally was getting the rights because things were a mess across several different countries and people with various claims to the IP. They finally got that all sorted about a year ago and we've known about System Shock 3 for a while since. [sp]Entirely unrelated to the System Shock name and just piggy-backing, as it has been doing the whole time. It has no relation to System Shock and no relation to the Prey novel. Just happy little accidents for Zenimax and Arkhane.[/sp]

However, Otherside Entertainment are the ones primarily working on SS3 and that's made up of a TON of people who worked on things like the original LGS/Irrational games and Deus Ex: GOTY so there's still alot of trust to be had there. Judging from the polygon interview though, the team seems to want the game to be closer to the first than the second in gameplay though, with a few exceptions. Not sure what some people are gonna think of that.
Night Dive has total ownership over the rights to System Shock.
