• $1,300 Budget and Looking for a Gaming Rig
    4 replies, posted
Hey there, looking for another build, this time not for me, but for a friend. He's working with a budget of around $1,300 or so, but he can be flexible to the extent of an extra $100-150. Preferably less, though. He's going to be playing games like Battlefield 3 and the such. He does need a case, a larger one preferably. He doesn't need a monitor, speakers, keyboard, or mouse, but if the total cost of the build is less than $1,200, then he'd like a good quality gaming keyboard/mouse added on. Basically everything else for a gaming rig is needed. He lives in America, so an American website such as Newegg would be best for him to reduce shipping costs and the like. If there's anything you guys need to know, feel free to ask, and we both appreciate your time.
Well, since nobody has given a build yet, I'll give it a shot: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.693877 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827118039 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119160 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152185 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130621 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207017 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231425 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608018 i5-2500k, HAF 932 case, Spinpoint F3, XFX Pro850W, Ripjaws X 4GB, GTX 570, NH-D14, and DVD Burner Total comes to $1174.91 If he needs an OS: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116986 If anyone has any better suggestions feel free to post, I just based this on builds that have already been posted here before, but it should at least be decent. As for gaming mice...the only one I can recommend is a Logitech MX518, you can pick one up for around 40 bucks at Amazon, great mouse for its price, but if he wants to spend more on a mouse, dunno.
Also look at some god damn other cases, Fractal XL or R3, one of those little Lian Li's or a 600T or whatever looks appealing to your friend. Nothing wrong with the HAF cases at all, the lower end ones are extremely good value for money but it's getting to the point where literally everyone and their mother has one, I remember the days where cases were a personal opinion and unique.
Thanks for the reply, Snausages. I don't really know how great these parts are, does anybody have any opinions on the build? Thanks again!
Snausages did a good job, although you can fit a 60gb agility 3 SSD in there too with a Z68 for the same price if he gets a mid tower and a 750w power supply. Which in my opinion would be much better seeing as you almost never need a full tower and 750w is more than capable for future upgrades (570 SLI for example).
