• Internet, Wireless or Ethernet?

I am stuck whether I should use Wireless or Ethernet for my computer. We have a 802.11g Wireless Network in our house but the Study is right underneath my bedroom and It is the same wall as well. I have yet to discover whether the Wall is brick or just Gyprock so I can run a cable between the wall and plug into the router? Could you help me please.
Either way, you'll need to run wired. Wifi has trouble going through either one.
It is right underneathme though. I am upstairs!
See if there's a vent going from that room to the study. If so, run a cable through that. Not too hard to do and a rock steady connection.
I've got cables hanging out of holes in my ceiling because I'm too lazy to drop them through the wall. Maybe you could do the same.
well it depends what your needs are & how picky you are about your bandwidth consistency wireless is always nice as far as convenience, but as far as bullet proof performance, nothing beats a hard-line. if you're a gamer that isn't into hosting or not an uploader that often transfers large files...wireless is perfectly fine. however if you're a power user that milks every last drop of bandwidth available for server hosting, constant HD media uploads etc, and the hard-line isn't an "issue" to have (getting in the way of things, too far from main hub etc)...you can never go wrong with the wire..as it isn't affected by environmental circumstances..bad weather...or other numerous disruptions to signal strength its up to your needs, taste and installation convenience....drilling holes or stretching a 30/50 foot cable across the entire house isn't always too fun, but neither is experiencing occasional connectivity issues with certain wireless configurations or issues experienced when hosting anything that requires port forwarding etc apples and oranges man :]
Well all the other computersin my house are on wireless, would I gain any boost from ethernet? Would it be faster?
Wired is faster on most occasions. If you have slow internet hen it will still be slow, but I know I get about 2x speed because of being wired. That's just because wireless has a limit on how fast it can go, but an ethernet cable has a much higher limit. Check your internet speed. Even if it is slow I would recommend wired for he reliability, but it is your choice.
Don't be lazy go wired. I just went wired from wireless and I had to crawl 100ft underneath my house to get it. It's worth it man.
I need to crawl under my house and see if its brick first! And if I can use wire is there a adapter for your ethernet so you plug it in like a powerpoint?
